Not true. They will eventually change you over. The changes affected my brother's account 3 months after the annoucements. That was the day we canceled. We are going to keep it if they didn't change us over, but they did and they got dropped in favor of NetFlix. Plus, NetFlix has a larger HDDVD selection!

My account has remained the same.....

Are you sure you didnt try to upgrade/downgrade the account?

Yeah, pretty sure. We got an email and all. One day, the coupons just disappeared and the unlimited went away. That very day we closed the account.

This is why I don't use Blockbuster at all online or in store, they just can't keep their shit straight. In the last 4 years and two different cities, their return policy changed 5 times.

Meanwhile all the other places have stuck with the standard 3 days by midnight.

See this is where the "pretty sure" needs to be definite. If you did upgrade/downgrade your account either right before or after the switch, then yes, there are new plans.

Until my account switches, I dont believe that they are switching.

The official change happened in August. They kept the existing customers on their plans for an additional 3 months. As of the 14th of Nov, I will be automatically converted to the 5 exchanges per month plan with no coupons.

Why don't you all not use netflix or blockbuster. There is plenty of other great online dvd rental places out there! They have both messed with customers long enough and putting your money toward someone else may help them see the light.

$5.99/mo for 2 in the mail, 2 exchanges and 1 coupon was great. They raised it to $7.99, I lived with it. Then they took away my coupon AND I got a bunch of crap about my 2nd exchange saying I was supposed to pay $1.99 (I refused), the guy at the store took care of it, but I cancelled my account anyways.

Another case of a good thing gone all to shlt.

Your plan hasn't changed over yet? Wow...consider yourself lucky.

I still kept Blockbuster because I haven't had time to watch films much lately, but I think I'm going to switch after the new year at the latest.

I read an article yesterday about Blockbuster's financial problems and how they were scaling back on the perks they provided. I already know they went from an unlimited number of in-store exchanges to just 5 a month but losing the coupons is new to me. I'm on the $17.99 Total Access plan.

I thought they were cutting in-store exchanges down to three a month.

Depends on the plan. For the unlimited DVDs by mail with 3 at a time, the in-store exchanges are capped at 5.

Link?

And they already did, essentially. If you take the 3-at-a-time with unlimited in-store exchanges, it is $24.99/mo. That is basically what most of us had for $17.99/mo

IF they increase their prices again, I'm going to cancel. The 3/time + 5 in-store exchanges costs $1/month more than Netflix 3/time, but the 5 in-store exchanges make up for it and turn it into the better deal. Barely.

The free in-store coupon was a big deal to me because I enjoy renting the occasional video game. Any more negative changes and I'm going to cancel and go to netflix (they worked well at my old apartment, but I canceled when I moved a year ago).

Well they finally got me, my plan is jumping from $23.99 to $34.99. 4 at a time unlimited exchanges + 2 rental coupons a month.

Still worth it to me, but I bet for a lot of people a 45% price hike is going to be hard to swallow.

Hey, it was either that or bankruptcy for Blockbuster. The new CEO has a brain unlike Antioco.

I dropped it a month ago. I've seen pretty much every older movie that I want to see, so I figure I can cycle on/off every few months and watch all of the movies I want.

Just got the email that my 14.99/month plan will now be 16.99/month... I still think its worth it but now I have to make sure I watch at least 6 movies a month to justify it...

It's hard to swallow for me. $35/month is NOT worth it for the convenience of going into the store for additional rentals. I'll be calling to bitch, as I do like the plan, but if they don't grandfather me in I'll be going to Netflix.

Sad they have such short vision.

They just increased my plan too. First they take away the number of exchanges and free game rentals, then they increase the price. Now I don't feel so bad about keeping game rentals for a month and a half.

Same here I got the nice takin' it in the ass e-mail...

To continue to bring you the unmatched convenience of both online and in-store DVD rentals, your monthly subscription fee will change from $14.99 to $16.99. This adjustment? will go into effect on your next billing cycle on or after December 27, 2007. The benefits of your subscription plan will remain the same.

Didn't they just hike up the rates not to long ago? I dropped down a level when they took the unlimited returns away along with the coupons because I could stomach the crappy plan at 15 bucks...now they hike it back up again.

Personally I think I am going to drop it for many of the same reasons...especially the website...I can't stand how slow it is and the terrible layout...I hate it.

i use to take advantage of it and get a free 360 game a month, not now - $5.99. may as well go w/ one of the online places that do games and movies for about the same price.
