I know of no requirement that says you have to get a bigger phone. Seems like a self inflicted wound to me. Convergence is nice, but I don't need it.

What I know is every single one of my friends that have 4inch+ phones, they don't pick up their phones half the time, because they can't carry it in their pockets.

Of course that's only a bad thing for me, who wants to call them, but it's still a nice side effect: large ass phones are lesser phones, pure and simple. It's like having your laptop doing phone calls. You're sure to make less phone calls and pick up less phone calls.

I own a 3.2inch phone. I'm not happy with the screensize, but that's because I don't have a tablet. I will have one in a few days, and then we'll see.

The issue with the Moto X was that for the longest time it was the only phone with high-end hardware and clean software in a one-hand friendly form factor. HTC One mini? Gimped on memory and battery. Galaxy S4 mini? Slightly less gimped on memory and battery, but runs touchwiz. Nexus 4? Didn't support LTE, wasn't one hand friendly (for me) and that glass back was a stupid idea.

When it comes time to upgrade my Moto X, I'm hoping there will be more alternatives. I'd be happy with the same form factor, possibly slightly thicker if the battery can last a weekend without recharging.

I love how absolute some people can be about other people's preferences. Not everyone is happy to walk around looking like they have a costanza wallet in their pants.

I am seriously confused by this, it isn't noticeable at all in a pocket, I don't care what people's preferences are, but I OWN a 5.2" device and have 0 difficulty fitting it into my pockets, it doesn't stick out, it is a very thin phone so it isn't very bulky, it slides right in my pocket, and it's just as easy to get out. I just don't understand why people seem to think it's some giant device akin to a tablet...

Either these people are wearing skinny cut jeans every day, or I simply own pants with HUGE abnormally sized pockets.

Just because it fits in the pants pocket doesn't mean it's comfortable. I wear t-shirt and shorts while I work, and Note 3 could fit in my shorts pocket. But it sure wouldn't be comfortable moving around and working. I don't work desk job so the phone stays in my pocket and I'm constantly moving and bending.

Or that they're not as "big boned" as you I don't wear skinny jeans, but while sitting down with the Moto X in a front pocket is possible, it's not comfortable. Walking around with it feels ridiculously awkward unless it's in a back pocket - which has it's own issues.

And no, I refuse to carry around a man purse.

I call BS, and I know BS because they are my initials...

I have a company provided iP5S and an HTC One and carry both of them with me most of the time. The One goes in my front left pant pocket and the iP5S goes in my rear left pant pocket with no problem whatever!

All you guys whining about big phones are going to be really crying when the next iPhone comes out and is near 5 inches! You complain about phones being too big then whine about your screen being too small -- Jesus, make up your mind...

I've had the One for a year and am in no hurry to replace it, but when I do, probably a year from now, the replacement will likely be over 5" screen size and will likely have 2560x1440 or there about's.

But I think it does probably cost them more to make smaller phones with high end specs, than bigger phones with high end specs.

Sony pulled it off with the z1 compact, battery size took a hit and the resolution too but that's expected. I just think the company bean counters don't believe there is a market for high end phones in small packages.

5'11" 120-125lbs

Walking around with it feels ridiculously awkward unless it's in a back pocket - which has it's own issues.

I just dont have that issue, doesnt effect me walking, or running particularly. I wouldn't want to run a mile with it in my pocket, but its no big deal. Sitting down is also a nonissue for me.

But it sure wouldn't be comfortable moving around and working. I don't work desk job so the phone stays in my pocket and I'm constantly moving and bending.

Me too, I am constantly moving large 30-40Lb bags and boxes all day. No issues for me. I occasionally wear an apron and put my phone in that pocket for ease of access, that's about it though, works fine in my pants pocket too.

Guess I am a freak of nature, but F-it, means i don't have to shop around for a stupidly small phone easier for me.

If you've noticed the Z1 compact isn't exactly selling like hot cakes. I don't think it was worth it for them.

I read somewhere that large screens were driven by the need for large batteries. If true, until there is a breakthrough in battery tech or power draw, for those of us that want feature laden phones, we're going to be stuck with big ones. Phones that is...

I just replaced my wife's phone on the Edge program (and reduced our bill in the process) by getting her an S3 mini. I found that I actually prefer that size to my full size S3.

I'm into fitness and cycling so I don't like large phones. I want something I can comfortably strap on my arm in the gym or when out for a long ride. I use a Moto X and I'm happy with it.

I love my Moto X. I prefer the sub 5" screen sized phones. I love throwing my Moto in my shirt pocket during airplane trips.

I hate things in my pockets. To the point where I've been extremely resistant to carrying my phone outside of my vehicle. I'm trying to overcome that out of the increasing impracticability of not carrying a phone all the time, but damned if I'm not looking at drop leg pouches to do it. Or a man purse. Or only ever wearing cargos. I'm not sure which would look less ridiculous. Why don't we have pipboys?

Waah waah waah

That wasn't a rant, that was a borderline emo whine-fest from some whiny b...rat who wants everything his way. There's plenty of very nice options in the 4-5 inch range, and he has the absolute option to vote with his dollars. Phones (and in particular, screens) are growing because the market wants them. To the point where even Apple has caved in and is increasing screen sizes.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go enjoy my 5.2 inch LG G2.

I agree. I think the perfect phone-sized screen is right around 4". The screen on my Galaxy S4 is too big for my taste, and I am really disappointed that the S5 is even bigger. I'd really like to see something the size of the Atrix (first gen), thinner, with a smaller bezel, and modern flagship specs.

Well I don't use a huge case on mine but a lot of people feel like they need a case on their phones. Imagine how large a large phone would be with a large case!
