Mine is on its way SWEET!

Even not overclocked... AMD CPUs are an insanely good deal right now... add it to an inexpensive Via based KT333 and you have the foundation for a sweet PC, for very little cash

Strange... I ordered on Friday night... they said they don't process orders on weekends... well, I got confirmation tonight that my order has been packed and is ready to ship. Not complaining, just surprised

Anyway, hopefully it's the good stuff... i may have managed to get one of the last chips from their existing shipment.. they expect another shipment tomorrow.

Hi guys,

I just came across this great offer and wanted to get some opinions, for I've been out of this pc stuff for quite awhile (I have a P133). What would be a good case, mb, and fan for this cpu? Where can I get it all?

Thanks,
Charlie

Chuck, it really depends on how much you want to spend. a good, cheap setup might be the ECS K7S5A+256mb pc2100+AXP 1600+GC68. that will run you about $180-185 with shipping. case really depends on your taste, i prefer the cheap cases, the enlights are nice if a bit ugly. some of the newer enlight caseslook pretty classy though and as another plus, enlight PSU's are quiet. if you can spend a bit more i'd reccomend a good KT333 board like the MSI KT3 ultra+256mb-512mb of pc2700(samsung is good but i like kingmax cuz it's cheap). either way you go, i'd get most everything from newegg and SVC, both are great retailers with great prices and service.

hope this helps

edit: seeing as you are on a p133 right now, would it be safe to assume that you don't do anything too system intensive? if so, you could go with the ASUS A7N266-VM for a mobo.

What is the OC potential of the AGOIA core? I'm looking to just up the FSB to 166 on my new 1600+. Would this be possible on a KT333?

What is a nice cooler to go with it? The SVC? Thanks

No they don't. I own a 7VRXP and it doesn't have the divider whic many people are mad about since all the reviews said that it would but no production models seem to be consistent with that. Maybe it'll come in a bios update.

from what i hear, the AGOIA's hit 10.5x166 pretty consistenty. your odds are pretty good of getting an AGOIA 1600+ up to a 166fsb on a KT333 mobo. as for a cooler, the SVC GC68 is a nice unit, but i really wouldn't recommend it for heavy OCing(at least not without a fan upgrade). the AX-7 or alpha PAL8045 are better bets for OCing. i personally like the alpha better, but the AX-7 in my box does a fine job of cooling a 1gig t-bird@1.2

thanks, Redterminator. well, what I have to say is, gigabye sux, and tomshardware sux. i did some research too. it is said that KT333 boards form abit, epox and asus all support 1/5 divider. maybe i will get rid of the gigabyte board.

I got a question guys. What are my posibilities of overclocking this cpu using my old Iwill KK266 mobo. Right now fbs runs at 155 with my AMD thunderbird 1gz @1313. Maybe my memory won't handle it!. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

what does AGOIA cores mean...?

It's written on the processor and indicates the stepping used in manufacture. Some steppings are better than others on average for overclocking.

that depends on how good of chip you get.without any multiplier changes that would be about 1627 mhz, which that chip should run no problem.so unlocking it may be your best choice since then you could get more out of the processor while maintaining your 155 buss.
