Blower style or not?

Hey all.
I'm trying to choose a style of card for my 2080 Ti purchase.
I'm torn between two Asus models.
1. The dual fan https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126247&ignorebbr=1

2. The Turbo Blower https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126248&ignorebbr=1

Im wondering about the blower because my case is a bit on the small side.

Are blowers decent? I haven't owned a blower card in many years. Is it really better to move the air out of my small-ish case instead of moving it around with the dual fan model? I know I should probably wait until both cards are actually in the hands of testers. Hoping to gage the general feeling about blower performance.

Thanks for any advice!

Not sure about your case airflow as uou didn't provide any fan details at all.

Having said that....For the money that blower looks way too cheap.

With adequate airflow dual fan would be the better option.

I have two 140s intake, one 120 exhaust.

Blowers work fine, but they're noisy.

basically this. i used to buy only reference models but after seeing how much better the AIB designs are I seldom buy the blower cards now. they also throw a LOT of heat depending on the GPU, AMD specifically.

I wouldn't even consider that blower. Asus "Turbo" blower is their lowest end option for a given GPU. The dual fan should cool far better with less noise. As said by others consider getting a couple extra case fans if possible. Which case are you using?

Skip the blower. Blower is almost never better, you have to have really extreme airflow restrictions due to very small size. Even in small cases dual open fan is still going to beat it in every meaningful metric

I'll be honest, I think blowers are a joke. I don't think anyone should spend more than $250 for a card with a blower. Blowers are almost always the cheapo option, and they're just not as good as open coolers. You lose a lot of heatsink space to make room for the fan. Even the 'better' blowers like the 10XX FE ones are almost choking at stock clocks.

I'd be shocked if your case wasn't good enough for an open cooler. I had an R9 390 jammed into a $30 m ATX case with one 120mm intake and a 92mm exhaust, and it never went above 75 degrees or 35% fan speed under load. I'm not sure there's any cases where blower coolers are better than a decent open cooler.

A FE cooler is much better in a mini itx/cube case where an open air cooler would overheat your CPU with the air dumped in the case and if case airflow is limited the open air cooler may choke.

With two 140 mm intakes, that case should be totally fine with an open air card.

While I like the concept of blowers, I probably wouldn't get that specifi blower on a card that drew that much power.

In your case I think I would look into the Founder Edition, since the others are really no cheaper, but you might want to wait for reviews.

Alright thanks for the info. I'll wait for the cards to be in the hands of testers. Probably avoid the blower model
and go with the dual fan. Maybe a mini version of the 2080 or 2080ti will come out too. Honestly a bit tired of massive video cards.

Mass market ITX, mATX cases are capable of providing enough airflow for open air GPUs. Some even have dual 140s on the front and an exhaust in the rear. (Was looking at the NZXT H200i before reading all the posts...)

In an NCase M1, the entire case got warmer and the CPU got warmer, but the noise level with an EVGA GTX1080 ACX was fine. Popped in an open air XFX RX480, same thing. Case side got warm, CPU warmer, but well within spec.

Most people aren't going for a case of that size or smaller, so yeah. If a case the size of the M1 can deal with a 1080, a case with 2 140s and 120 exhaust will be perfectly fine with the higher TDP card. And yes, I've tried the Titan Xp in the M1 with the blower, lol, that ish is way too loud. Popped on a Raijintek Morpheus along with 15mm Noctua fans exhausting heat out the case, much cooler temps and noise level around the GTX 1080 ACX.
