It doesn't matter. Q2 of 2007 there will be players from LG, Samsung and others that will play both formats. Such is the nature of disc based technologies. Once that happens nobody will care. For a year or so the great debate will rage like it did when the DTS DVDs came out about which format is better but after a while nobody will care.

I already don't care. When the dual format players come out I'll buy one and be happy.

This is what I am waiting for. when that happens the time will be right for me to drop some bucks on a decent DVD player.

Buy a DLP, I haven't seen a single DLP in my search that isn't the standard 1280x720.

EDIT: Oh and I own an HD-DVD add-on for my XBOX 360, so it'd be nice to see more titles instead of having to go, "Oh, I'd like that movie, too bad it's Blu-Ray."

If HD DVD and BR were close before, BR should start pulling away this month with these releases:
* Casino Royale (Sony)
* The Holiday (2006) (Sony)
* Hoosiers (MGM)
* Layer Cake (Sony)
* Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Fox)

We'll see if HD DVD can play the catchup game like BR did.

By close I was referring to total sales numbers, not the monthly ones. I was aware of the monthly sales figures, and compounding that with these releases this month for BR and no releases whatsoever for HD DVD, it looks like they're going to be in some trouble.

I just picked up a hd dvd player for the 360 just couple of days and amazed by the quality of the video presented.

quality wise of each is pretty equal. You cant tell the difference between the 2 if you take the raw video of it and play through same equipment. At least from my experience through my PC via HDMI to my 1080p TV. Obviously everyone likes the fact for storage matters the blu-ray over HD-DVD. but HD-DVD is just more cost effective for the average person. Who knows whats going to happen. I would put money on the fact that the dual-players will nullify the war just like what happened with DVD+R and DVD-R. I am sure they will have a dual burner that will come out down the road too.

Someone on the highdef forums posted that Casino Royale sold over 100,000 copies on Blu Ray in its first week of release...it got as high as number 7 on Amazon...

Official Press Release will be coming out shortly...

HD DVD is totally getting pwned right now...projecting that 10 blu ray movies will be sold for every HD DVD movie sold in the month of March...

I heard Blu-Ray is banning porn, so my guess is that HD-DVD will triumph. Porn is a huge chunk of the DVD industry right now.

Not anymore. The internet replaced physical media years ago. Porn's no longer a force.

When was the last time you checked the numbers on amazon? HD-DVD seems to be doing just fine.
