1. People hate domestic brews as a massive trend

2. Concoct an all-new 100% American brew from the very labs of Coors

3. Mention NOTHING about Coors, market it as a 'Belgian White' (now sued and called Belgian-style), even set up its own website and say it's from Blue Moon Brewing Company.

4. 99% of mass market thinks it's a hip Belgian brew and now enjoys mainstream success

The reason people hate domestic beer is because it's all fairly bland lagers. Blue Moon is a Belgian-style witbier ale that actually tastes decent. If Bud or Miller were making products that tasted like Blue Moon, beer afficionadoes would be buying those too. Only a fanboi would hate a product simply because of who made it.

But yes, they have done a good job distancing themselves from the Coors brand. It's probably for the best, since there are a lot of beer snobs I know who like Blue Moon while proclaiming their hatred for mass-produced beer. Oh, irony.

I like Blue Moon because it's pretty good, and it has nothing to do with the name. And who doesn't think Blue Moon is domestic...lol.

We're talking about average joes here, pretty much everyone.

When Blue Moon first came out and you didn't see it too many places it was decent. I think their quality has gone downhill though as they've ramped up production.

I always thought it had that a chemically processed flavor...but it's not as bad as Shock Top in that regard.

My guess is that it's reporter bias, and that your sense of the beer has changed a lot more than the beer itself. I had a similar experience with Yuengling in college. I thought it tasted great for the price and started buy a lot of it. After a while, though, I started to notice a sour taste and liked it less and less. That taste most likely was always there, but I didn't notice it because I was paying attention to other aspects of the beer I liked. I've since learned that I can't keep buying the same beer over and over, or I'll get sick of it.

This. I also thought Blue Moon was Canadian but didn't really think about it that much because it tastes like ass anyway.

Blue Moon isn't bad if I want to slam back 10-12. I'll stick to Hoegaarden if I want better taste though.

Most people know Blue Moon = Coors

You are not special in your knowledge, nor are you original.

I don't like Pepsi but I do like Gatorade so should I not drink it because it's made by Pepsi?
I like my Corolla but don't like the Matrix so should I sell my Corolla since they're both Toyotas?
Qdoba is decent but I don't like Jack in the Box that much, so am I SOL?

You forgot the last part, No commercials or other advertisements to make it seem like a microbrew

At least I've never seen any kind of advertisements

I quite liked Blue Moon in America it was one of the few things I'd drink in bars. It's kind of like hoegaarden, but worse. I didn't realise it was owned by "Coors" if I had I may have reconsidered ordering it, so yeah there marketing is working. If it was called "Coors: Blue Moon" I wouldn't have ordered it.

This is one of the worst beer ever! The orange just brings out the chemistry set flavors. And just when you thought it was over...there's the aftertaste.
