Blue Ray drive

I picked up a LiteOn Blue Ray drive on sale and I'm having trouble playing some movies. I've rented 2 movies so far. The first one, Bruce Willis / Live free...
played like a charm. The second one, National Treasure 2, plays everything leading up to the movie but not the movie itself. I've upgraded the firmware
to the latest version. I'm using the bundled Cyberlink software.

Does anyone else here have a BD drive and having any trouble in general ?

You most likely need to update your player software (Cyberlink). New protection comes out every so often and can only can be decoded by the latest player software. You can thank the MPAA for that little "feature."

Everything is HDCP compliant. I don't have an update feature in the software, just upgrade
to a high priced retail version. Is there any other software I can use that updates itself.

My rig is a fairly high end gaming setup. I'm thinking about taking the drive back
if I have to flip a coin to decide whether the movie I just rented is going to play or not.

I could get WinDVD. I think that supports Blu-ray now. I personally hate PowerDVD. I had nothing but problems with it when I tried to play HD DVDs about a year ago.

Thanks for the info. I have 3 more days to return it so I'll try WinDVD and report back.
In case your wondering, I bought it at Frys and have only 15 days to bring it back.

I wonder how finicky the HD format is?
My Toshiba HD DVD player seems that way. I rented the latest Bourne couldn't play the HD side, only the SD side. Even after updating the firmware.
Months later, I got the disc when my free DVDs came and it would play either. Last weekend, I put it in (no further firmware updates) and it played.

I've never had a problem getting HD movies to play on my A2. Although sometimes CDs won't play until I eject and put them back in. Weird.

I've read about National Treasure BD having that problem.
I've a similar setup ( bluray/hddvd in my media pc)and I had the same problem trying to play Rambo.
Check the Cyberlink website, they have a NEW patch specifically for their bundled products that adds Bluray 2.1 or some such support...it's not the firmware of the drive, but the stupid way they put the discs together. This is getting too much...went from patching PC games to patching console games, now we need a patch just to play a movie lol

Edit: I fixed it, after flashing the drive, you have to do a cold boot of the PC, I guess even when it says you need to restart computer, it means you have to actually turn it off and back on.
