Blue Screen of "DEATH"

I got an error message a while back and it was suggested to create the recovery disks and try booting from them. This has now yielded a new error message. "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" ***STOP: 0x000000ED (0x89B8CDC0, 0xC00000A3, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

It was said that my problems started with an automatic update and that I need to uninstall the update. The problem is that I can' t get past the blue screen. My operating system is Windows XP.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You need to test your hard drive with the manufacturer's utility. That blue screen error is almost always caused by bad sectors developing on the hard drive.

Boot from XP CD.
Go to Repair Console.
Run Chkdsk & bootfix.
Reboot.
