Secession would be a great idea! Then we blue areas will be fine when Osama comes in and WMD's the United States and his buddy George W. Bush!

Secession will be securing our own security! The states have made their choices!

LOL, Just because I mentioned California would be self sufficient, especially Northern California, doesn't mean I support succession from the Republic. I do know that without the Tax revenues generated by the Blue States the Red States wouldn't get all the Federal Subsidies they do now.

Even more of a reason to seceed - we here in the blue areas can prosper and have budget surpluses if we didn't have to support the red communities.

SillyTIM do you realize that most of the Blue States, especially California, had millions of people vote for the Dub? You think they along with many of us who didn't vote for the Dub but love our country none the less would support such a looney notion?

Plus, just because the states in the middle of the U.S. were red, many of them were just barely red - by a few percent or so and not an overwhelming majority.

You are absoulely correct, T2T - absolutely. And I do know that, and do remember that.

However, the point I'm making is that the people who elected Bush must realize that about their side too - they BARELY won. No one has room to gloat, and this is all the more reason Bush, as our President, must work to bring us all together and unite us. He needs to walk the walk, rather than just talk the talk - as he has done for the past 4 years.

The Logistics are a lot harder this time for many many factors.

You would have to see mass amounts of people moving to the Blue States to band together first and then they would have to arm themselves.

Those simple two factors alone would be prevented by the Ruling Power so it is simply not going to happen.

The only solution I see is quite frankly a new Party.

The Democratic Party is dead and cannot be revived.

Catholics used to vote along Democratic lines and now have joined forces with Christians all voting as one bloc under the Republican Banner.

Unless Catholics and others (besides Christains because they are using the Republican Party) are convinced to go with a different party other than Republican, this Country will simply grow more and more into a total Theocratic Police State.

First order of business is to come up with a name for the new party.

Second would be to get as many folks from the fragments to join forces under the new Party. Many folks consider themselves as Independant and Libertarians etc but they aren't even voting because they refuse to vote for the Democrat party.

It's a simple matter of numbers. Getting more voters not of the Brainwashed Religous Radical Right.

Otherwise as Ohio demonstrated the Bible Belt will continue to expand unrestrained.

INstead of suggesting that the rep's are the problem, perhaps the dems use this as an opportunity to get more in touch with reality?

Repugs aren't the problem, they're just being used.

Dems are in touch with Reality, they see how powerful the Theocracy has become and just grew stronger exponentially.

Why, the Republicans didn't need to be in touch with reality to win. The Majority of Americans voted for the Dub despite the reality that his Foriegn Policy was incompetent at best and decietful at worst. Or maybe you think the reality is that Americans are more interested in hearing the Dub spout his Religious convictions than it is he doing a good job.

Or maybe it's just that you, as a liberal elitist, think that anybody that doesn't agree with you is stupid. Why can't you realize that there are many people that agree with Bush more than they did with Kerry, and just because they do doesnt make them out of touch with reality.

How could you possibly secede when in every Blue state, almost half of the voters voted for bush...

Is this Dr. Zoltan Grossman a nut?

Zoltan?
Is he going join up with Flash Gordon too?

LOL about secession. Bush averaged 4-6 points higher in every blue state this election.
Thanks Kerry for voting soooo consistently in your career.
And thanks Michel Moore for getting those previously bored, apathetic voters off to the polls because your "movie" pissed them off.
Thanks Boss Springsteen, and the hollywood elite for showing average America how "crappy" your lives are.
Thanks George Soros for spending millions on the Kerry ticket, and publicy stating your desire to "legalize it"
PLEASE dont let that door going to New Zealand hit you in your azz on the way out.

Oh, and please remind Alec Baldwin his visa from the 2000 election is still cancelled. He is an illegal here.

A new name isn't necessary. "Whig" is available!

That goes for Massachusetts too...:|

Your argument makes NO sense. We wouldn't be able to handle the cold we get every year? We wouldn't need to go after the north, we would just defend.

What you fail to understand is that a large number of the bush voters are not from the religous radical right...oh, and if you want to generalize, then the kerry supporters are worse than the relgious right.

After looking at that map I realized something:

The Red states would have baiscally the entire nuclear stockpile and strategic delivery systems of the United States in their possession.

Of course, nevermind that the states have neither Authority nor the Right to secede unless the federal government induces a long series of abuses and reduces the government to a position of near despotism.

Never gonna happen.

Blue State Secession:

By ZOLTAN GROSSMAN

The Election of 1860 led to the Secessions of 1861. The Election of 2004 can lead to Secessions in 2005.*

* -- This is a joke....

....but there are a few developments that could prevent the "blue states" from joining Canada and Mexico......

AN OPTIMISTIC LOOK AT PRESIDENTIAL SECOND TERMS

Second Nixon term : After the largest landslide in U.S. history in 1972 (in which the Democrats win only one state), Nixon's Democratic opponents --emboldened by Vietnam and Watergate-- aggressively investigate the President, and force him to resign.

Second Reagan term : After another Republican landslide in 1984 (in which the Democrats win only one state), Democrats launch a probe of the Iran/Contra scandal, and diminish Republican control of foreign policy in Central America.

Second Clinton term : After Clinton handily wins the 1996 election, Republicans aggressively investigate Clinton's private life, and impeach him, weakening his vice president's 2000 White House bid.

Second Bush term? After George W. Bush narrowly wins the 2004 election, Democrats elect a new congressional leadership to replace the complacent Tom Daschle. Democrats aggressively investigate the Iraq War, denials of civil liberties, and security lapses before and since 9/11.

Anything can happen, because a strong opposition has less to lose in a second term.

I would guess that nuclear warheads on the submarines and such would be under the control of the blue states.

We can't have civil war or division YET. Why? There's not the idendity set up yet. First, we need to build the idendity of the blue states. More and more people are realizing blue states are different but it hasn't quite become part of the blue state consciousness. Once there is an identity, blue states will realize they are half the country and cannot be pushed around by a 100% red state government. At that point, the talk of taking more radical measures will be useful.

Your problem is you see a blue state and assume 100% of its citizens are blue. You see a red state and think 100% of the people are red.

Once you realize this isnt true. Then your comical idea of succession will cease to exist.
