Blurry display with 40.72 and LCD

Dual booting with 98SE and XP Pro and both OS's are blurry with 40.72 drivers. Just downloaded them today. I can install older version, but am wondering if there is a fix for this.

Display was nice and crisp before in both operating systems.

No .inf files available for my Microtek C783.

I had the same problem Boomerang. For some reason when I installed these the drivers reset the refresh rate on all my available resolutions to 60. Bumped it up to 72 and that cleared up my LCD. I noticed it on text.

I had already played with refresh rates some. No real change I can see.

We are not the only ones with this problem. My sister-in-law has this going on too.

Well, I'm going to poke around tha nvidia site and see what I can come up with. As I said, I can always go back to the old drivers.

Have you tried using clear fonts,does that make a difference?

So that may be causing the bluriness on my Dell LCD's? I've noticed that the text seems blurry and the edges seem almost different color (lighter) than the center (text body center vs edge of text). The driver fixed a few problems with artifacts (not overclocked on either one) though. WinXP home edition. Cleartype fonts didn't make a difference.....I thought I was losing my eyesite! :Q

No, I haven't tried clear fonts yet. That would only work with XP if I have my information correct. I tried this on the sister-in-law's computer running XP with no improvement.

My desktop is essentially black and the text under my icons is white. If I look very closely, the horizontal elements of the text are very bright and the vertical elements are dim. I notice no difference with black text. (Like this text here)

The driver update was done because I changed video cards. They are essentially the same card. Now please, no snide remarks because I am not a gamer. But, I went from a 16MB TNT2, to a 32MB TNT2. The old card is a 3.3 volt card and the new is a 1.5 volt. I don't know if this could have any bearing on this or not, because I am not even close to being in the loop on video cards. My old Abit BX6 R2 is still going strong and my system has plenty of oomph for what I do with it. I thought the 32MB card might be better suited to XP, and I had it sitting in the closet anyway.

The card plugged in the slot just fine and I assumed there would be some kind of voltage regulator built into the card to handle the voltage difference. I tried to do some research on this, but everything I found was just way too technical, or didn't have the information I needed.

Feel free to set me straight on anything I have wrong here.
