blurry lcd

hi,

i just purchased my first lcd (princeton vl1716 17in 25ms DVI from costco)

but the text is blurry as hell.

i heard there was some setting to tweak on windows or some profile to download from microsoft that helps improve the text visibility.

does anyone have the info for this?

you want to make sure u run it at its optimum resolution which should be 1280x1024 for that size lcd

i am running it at that res, its still has really blurry text. in fact im getting dizzy as i type this.

hmm, maybe i should return this monitor and get a better one. even after the cleartype, its still making me dizzy compared to the crt i have.

make sure you really are using that res. make sure u are using the dvi input, if you aren't, then use the auto calibrate button, ussually all lcds have em. theres no reason a dvi input would get blurry unless its on the wrong resolution

That monitor has both analog and DVI inputs... like previously posted, make sure you are using the DVI. When my first LCD was on analog nothing I did made it look "crystal clear", until I switched over to the digital input.

the problem right now is, my geforce ti4600 died on me so im using an old crappy geforce2mx untill i can get a new card.

would the DVI make THAT BIG a difference?

difference is minimal if the lcd is calibrated correctly.

i tried this thing:

and it helped improved the blurriness abit, i changed a control called "phase" on the monitor settings.

Agreed, DVI will probably make a huge diff. It did on my Hitachi 17" screen.

I went from a Gf3 (vanilla) to a Radeon 9600Pro, world of difference.

I`m betting it`s the video card,some of the GF2s had really bad image quality especially at 1280x1024 or higher,as to using DVI ,well on my Samsung 191T with my Sapphire 9700NP, the analogue mode is pretty good,clear etc... however DVI mode blows it away,noticeable to my eyes.
