Just wondering, do you guys get your cars back all washed and cleaned up when bringing them in for service? Infiniti and Mercedes did that for my previous cars, I just brought my X5 in for its first scheduled service appointment, had to call in 2 weeks in advance (disappointment) for that and they insisted on not giving me a loaner (small matter as it was for a day and they drove me back to campus, however when I called to pick up the car, they said that they don't give rides after 6pm, so I had to ride my bike over). But most disappointing was that they didn't bother cleaning up the car at all, putting back the mirrors or seat in place... is this the usual, or is the place I visited just a poor service center?

Yeah, I was very surprised and disappointed when I got my car back. Well I was kind of pissed that they couldn't even pick me up at 6pm when they called to let me know that my car was done because I had specifically inquired about that. If I didn't have my bike, I would've had to bothered one of my bros to drive me over there. I got better service from Infiniti when they were still the terrible company before Ghosn took over...

Infiniti and Mercedes, only took about two days in advance to call in an appointment and they offered loaner cars, not a shuttle... bah...

That sounds pretty bad. Even a Buick dealership will wash the car when you bring it in for an oil change.

The BMW dealership I took my car to washed it and cleaned but for what I had to pay for routine maintenance they better have had!

Don't feel so bad about that stuff though. I got treated really poorly by nearly all the Lexus dealers I went to and I am not a very demanding person either. I took my GS to Lexus of Manhattan and they refused to drive me 3 avenues to the train station in a torrential downpour. I was absolutely soaking wet when I got to work. Then when I picked my car up, it wasn't ready. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours for it, got stuck in a 1 hour traffic jam because of them and to this day wonder if they actually did anything to my car. So much for the vaunted Lexus CS.

With my new Acura's first checkup, the mechanics didn't check any of the things I asked them to check. After that, I wrote the CS department a long email and they apologized and said the next checkup is on them.

Maybe you should voice your concerns by writing to them or calling them.

It does sound really bad.

My first oil change at the Honda dealership, they had a sign which said we'll wash your car for free just ask. So I asked please wash my car, after work I picked it up, (same) bird poop was still there.

It's little things like that, the bad instances which stick in your mind ... not the good but the bad experiences.

My dad is a trainer for BMW and they are supposed to put everything back the way it was and clean everything up. The guys at your dealership are screw ups.

Which BMW dealership did you go to? I'll have to add that dealer to my list of dealers to not go to.

When I went to the closest Bimmer dealership (at college not home where i bought the car), I walked in got what I wanted fixed (broken cd player) and walked out within an hour. They washed the car for me without asking and had their service manager walk me through all the changes they did. This is the BMW dealership in Ann Arbo, the name escapes me at the moment.

I couldn't be happier.

I know that the dealership where I bought the car Motorwerks of Barrington, IL does wash the car and does provide a loaner at an extra fee. They sometimes have free food so its better to wait .

Hehehe, the dealership I went to is P & W BMW in Pittsburgh. I'm sure I would have gotten better service at a dealership back home in Jersey. Too bad they are the only dealership around my school...

Yeah, BMW of Chattanooga has always treated me good. They did not wash my car once though. They said the washing person took off early and that they were sorry about that. I also had gotten a loaner car for the day.

It seems many BMW dealers still don't get it. I've gotten less than perfect service from the one in my area too. The Infiniti, Lexus and M-B dealers around here seem to be more customer oriented.

I'm a Happy BMW owner, They didn't wash my car on my first service but I told them on the second visit and surely they washed my car and provided cookies and tea on my second visit. Also do keep in mind that you have the right to voice your concern and they'll surely treat you much better next time. If you email them or write them a complain letter, I'm sure you'll get some rewards for FREE. . customer satisfaction is one of BMW's main concern, just keep that in mind.

I definitely will voice my concerns to them when I have the time, just dissatisfied that I have to actually ask them to do it. Shouldn't a car wash and putting the mirrors or at least the seat (just one push of a button) be a standard 'service' item? The BMW has cost more than the Merc or Infiniti and I've gotten better service from both of them... hell I think I'll just send the manager a link to this thread.
