Same though I thought the last scene, the
fire
was way over the top.

i don't know, kinda goes with that character though doesn't it? i mean he's reacted like that before even though there's no reason to it. he's just a paranoid delusional psycho

I thought the scene with Richard, Nucky and Mickey was really good. Good to know where Richard stands with Nucky.
Get a better understanding of how Richard's mind works...that Jimmy was a victim of war, so Nucky is safe.

That Italian guy is over the top. That's how he rolls.

He's over the over the top. Every time I see him on screen I'm thinking he's about to pull out a gun and just kill everyone who might even be thinking of looking his way.

Yea, just when you think Nucky was getting through to him. Pig roast.

I'm interested in where they are going with the Van Alden character. I'm a huge fan of Michael Shannon and think this is one of his best roles thus far, so I hope he's still a decent sized portion of this season.

I do have to say that every time I see 'Gillian' on camera I want someone to shoot her. I like Gretchen Mol, but that character is just creepy/vindictive/insert adjective.

To me, the Van Alden character doesn't fit into the story any more. I'm surprised they brought him back for a third season. Unless he gets affiliated with the mob in some way and commits an act that is so outrageous that the effects are felt by Al Capone or Nucky Thompson his character is just taking up space and a distraction to the theme of the show.

I think it's pretty obvious van aulden is going to get into more serious crime soon. He's broke, hates his job, etc. I think he'll either end up being a help or a thorn to the big shots.

Maybe I'm wrong though. I really like his character. so fucking weird.

Yeah he looked like he was about to go postal on his co-workers before he drew himself in. Gotta remember he's literally crazy.

Yep, I think his role in the show will tie in soon enough. If it doesn't then I do agree with Icepick, it's just a waste of time to keep him in the show. When he was in the speak and
paid off the agent to get out of there with no hassle, you could notice a tinge of annoyance/anger. Maybe also realization that all of the Prohibition agents take money on the side.
How he deals with that, is anyone's guess. My guess is it'll have an impact on Capone one way or another.

I still don't understand his distinction or reasoning.

I'm pretty sure he's going to end up working with O'Banion.

I loved the most recent episode where he was given a "get out of jail free" card but only if he paid the law enforcement guy directly.

I still don't understand his distinction or reasoning.

It's a common mob thing (or at least a common trope in mob shows). If you're in the game, you accept the risk that comes with that. It's business. Civilians are off limits.

Maybe part of it was that he told that guy not to go to the meeting, he even volunteered to go in his place. They both knew something was up, they both came back from the war suicidal..

Yeah I don't really understand it either.

You know, the parts with Nuchy are the most boring segments of the show. I've started skipping past them
