The Planet Earth mini-series just wasn't right without him narrating it.
"This isn't a nature documentary. It can't be. It doesn't sound right."
From Wikipedia:
...Huh.
If I hadn't seen the credits or heard about it otherwise, I don't think I would have recognized her voice.
Attenborough's? I definitely know that one.
I think they worked in the text "Planet Earth" constantly as an incessant reminder of what we were watching.
I thought "Sigorney vs Attenborough" was all anyone talked about when the series came to Blu Ray around 2006/2007.
The BBC version was better in a lot of technical ways but It was annoying when he assumes his audience will have a sense of the size of Wales for comparison and other such Britishisms.
I still want to see if the Discovery version has the weird pulsing artifacts in the waterfall flyover because I think they are lying about it being electrical interference from the helicopter. Probably wanted to avoid a recall fiasco, but it appears few even noticed it (most reviews said the picture was "flawless"). I can't un-see it. The entire screen pulses with white flecks rhythmically pulsing/appearing in dark areas and darker specs appearing in light areas.
