Their motives to lie are particularly strong here. What would you do if someone wrote a book outing you for saying insulting things about your current boss? They almost have to deny it.

It's tougher in this case to deny the veracity of the book than it was with Michael Wolff. Wolff was known to be a little fast and loose with facts in his prior writing. But Woodward is about as respected a journalist as there is. They can claim that Woodward was lied to by his sources, but all of this is just too familiar for it not to be true. Nothing in it comes as a surprise.

WaPo just published the audio and transcript of a call where Trump called Woodward in Aug to complain that he wasn't asked to be interviewed for the book. He was through multiple people including Conway who is on the fucking call. A lie so thin it can't survive the length of a single phone call. As usual Trump sounds like the moron he is.

While I 100% agree with what people are doing to protect the country from this maniac, it sounds like a soft coup is in effect.

I theorized this early in his term when it comes to the nuclear football, I bet there is a "Trump buffer" built in. In other words the sequence of steps that would normally occur when the President gives the order to launch is set to be interrupted by cooler, rational heads. Wouldn't be surprised if they disable it altogether. Set it up to blink the lights in case President Dummy opens the case.

This is one of those things that is good and bad at the same time.

He likes to surround himself with generals. I was totally disgusted that Michael Flynn, a former Marine did what he did. But I think that if it came down to it, I'd really like to believe that one of those generals would put a bullet in the back of his head to keep him from starting a nuclear war.
