I’ll be happy if we get at least another LEO space station commercial or otherwise before ISS deorbits.
So how's all that tech spin off coming. About the only need for it is to find out if the human body can take long stretches of weightlessness. Plenty of science can be accomplished without the ridiculous expense of making a craft that can support humans.

I think those who funded the whole effort secretly hoped that space is where immortality lies. That lack of gravity could somehow cause the cells to not age. I wonder how many secret life extension experiments have been done on the ISS so far.

Unless you are the Director of NASA, that information could be classified and above your pay grade?
It has produced a bunch of interesting pictures of objects that nobody official ever wants to talk about. But, as I see we have some serious sceptics in this forum, go on with your usual.

HFS!!!

One (1) Door Master in that whole fucking plant?!?!?!
When they signed the union contract 10 years ago, there was basically froze starting pay. Back then it was alright, but now many fast food workers in Seattle make more. So of course the quality of the worker has gone down a lot.

Sounds like where I used to work. Multiple single point failure setups. Maybe we should bring in someone so we can mentor someone to understand what that person does? Nah.
I am shocked that my current workplace operates like this but that's how it goes. Industry veterans of 30-40 years retire with minimal knowledge transfer.

I was an exception. I arrived with 10 years of relevant but not industry-specific experience when I hired on and had 1 year of overlap with the engineer I was replacing. Another year or two would have been even better. He retired with 41 years experience. Now, there is no way I have replaced all that built up experience but I think the transition was reasonably smooth. And I think I've done a pretty solid job in my position.

Turns out all you get in space is weak bones and lots of radiation. Not sure that’s the fountain of youth

I bet there's at least ONE human being on Earth who, when exposed to space radiation and zero gravity, will develop superhuman powers.

We've been doing it all wrong all these years. Instead of going to Mars, we should be creating this huge Death Star like space station without the death ray so at least 10,000 people can be in space at any one time and then we test everyone who volunteers to stay in that station for a few weeks to see if they get stronger instead of weaker. And no, there would be no artificial gravity on the station coz that would then defeat the whole purpose.

So you want to waste a ton of money and run a hugely unethical experiment (ie, nearly all risk and no known benefit)?

Space program itself is a hugely unethical experiment where the astronauts have to accept the risk that they may not come back, no?

And what's the risk in building a huge mini-moon type of space station? It will come in handy for other purposes (like robotic industries in space).

Asking a small, select group of people who are also highly trained and fully informed of the risks to do specific things in space is the not the same thing as sending up hundreds to thousands of more random people to monitor for random mutations that have a rare chance of being beneficial. Don't pretend that they are.

As long as they're all certified Trump voters from toss up states with no prior access to mail-in ballots, I'm all for it!

Time's a wasting, let's get cracking!

Who's with me? I'm thinking a Go Fund Me. Boeing can provide the shuttle!

Oh well. Maybe the Chinese and Russians will do it when they find the time from worrying about world conquest.

You really want a Trump supporter to be the first one with superpowers? You haven't seen The Boys yet have you?
