Pretty sure it runs on CPUs also, but don't. Leave CPUs on Yoyo@home for now and put any and all GPUs you can on PrimeGrid AP27.

AP27 is a GPU project. Site says average WU times are 12.5 minutes.
Is that accurate. I haven't done any of these on a CPU before. Initial ETA is much longer. Just trying to get enough work but not runout either.

Edit: Yup pretty quick,

Oooh, a GPU project too. I have a 6950XT yet to go into a box, I could pair it with the 7600 rig, but that would just mean more RAM pressure, wouldn't it? Or would the GPU tasks mostly just take GPU memory? (16GB on that card.)

I guess if I do that, I should do that soon, as the race start is coming up!

I ended up using app_config to run multiple tasks to get BOINC to download more instead of waiting for ETA's to adjust.

I see about 80-165mb of system memory usage for the GPU tasks.

OK, Got a bunch of AP27 tasks and suspended networking until the City Run starts.

Less than 24 hours until the Obstacle officially starts.

Will teams upload immediately to show their dominance? or will they wait for the bonus days to upload and risk the server being overrun?

Fun stuff. I've always enjoyed this competition

So my Internet connection was going down frequently on Monday May 1 evening. (It was a public holiday, so I thought that perhaps folks used the certainly oversubscribed infrastructure extensively.) I now noticed that my ISP seems to have released a notification on Tuesday or so that there was a device fault on their end and that they allegedly fixed it Tuesday forenoon.

Today my connection is going down often again too. I received a notification now that there is a device fault, and that the ETA for a fix is Saturday, May 6, in the evening.

At least I still can get intermittent service if I reset the cable modem often… This might become a Pentathlon with some special twists and turns for myself.

Well, I have been hesitating all the time to switch to a different ISP where I can get slower speed for more money, but perhaps — or perhaps not — higher reliability. (At my location it would involve switching from cable to DSL.) Anyway, from what I read, that's just your typical German Internet experience.

yoyo@home is the Obstacle Run. Load up the computers. It starts in 3 days.

Make sure you only select ECM or ECM P2 tasks ONLY.
The 2nd project of the BOINC Pentathlon in the discipline City Run is:
PrimeGrid: only subproject AP 27
Javelin Throw
ONLY SUBPROJECTS
SRBase: all subprojects except TF
As far as I recall (and can see from their timeline in the archive), SETI.Germany set up sub-project specific contests only at WCG in the past. Now we've got already 3 out of 3 announced projects with sub-project specific stats-keeping. But it makes some sense that they are pursuing this now. Edit, for example, this gives them control which of the disciplines is CPU-only or GPU-enabled; project admins can tune their work generators and validators; speculative bunkering is handicapped…

These projects also report app data to external sources. Free-DC can show credit per app which allows for specific app selection. Not all projects do.

Re 1st-hour stats: Keep in mind that the start (and end) of each contest, 00:00 UTC, is in the middle of the night for some participants, or for some teams even. That is, these folks tend to show their hand when you go to sleep, and vice versa. :-)

Party Pooper alert Kidding!!!

And yes, planetary teams are coming for us all!!! So find more junk to fire up!!!

Once again, sorry. My sleep aids are not working this evening. There might be a silly D.C. challenge that is firing up what is left of the brain cycles. Maybe 0.5 khz...?

I broke down a couple of nights ago, and bought a 7600X and MSI B650M-A (2.5gbe, Wifi 6E, 4 DIMM) board. The Newegg combo discount was $84, I couldn't resist. The CPU had a $10 promo code besides. That may get here today. Then I'll have a 7600 and a 7600X. I know that they're nothing compared to Genoa, but every bit helps. Been wondering if my laptops could help. Don't know if I want to risk them burning out.

Everyone with CPUs should be running yoyo@home unless you have a full cache, then suspend networking and bunker until a bonus day. If your cache completes before the bonus day, then release the bunker. Do NOT hold the CPUs idle with a bunker waiting on a bonus day. The bonus points are not that high this year so wasting a full day or more with the CPU working may not be made up on the bonus unless it's exactly 1 day and the bonus day is a 100% day. In which case, you'll end up even.

$ grep request_delay /var/lib/boinc/sched_reply_www.rechenkraft.net_yoyo.xml
<request_delay>909.000000</request_delay>

If the admin keeps it this way, each host is permitted to issue up to 1330 work requests during the duration of the Obstacle Run. :-P

(Well, if that's one of the sacrifices to make in order to keep the server responsive, so be it. I suspect that just some teeny bits of hardware updates would help a little too, but from what I understood, the owner won't have that.)

Edit half a day later: It's back at 303 s again.

I added a 7542 32 core. It downloaded 60 tasks almost immediately, and 83 more in reserve. The 9654 still has less than 100 total. There is something going on with yoyo. I suspect it has to do with how long the computer has been active.
