Once classic is done, I'm all over Bonic.... I may have trouble with 1 member of my 4 PC fleet, but it's only #3 in production anyway. Depends on how unobtrusive Bonic is compared to the Seti CLI.

2 BroadbandReports.com Team Starfire 3376 105,510.15 21,768,362.35 International

There is 3376 registered users on team.
105.510,15 is RAC, Resent Average Credit, this show the current average production per day. If everyone stops crunching, this will after a couple weeks drop near zero.
21.768.362,35 is Total Cobblestone-credit.

Anyway, if you re-orders after total credit, BBR drops to #4.

If you take a look on external stats-sites, you'll find out:
#1 SETI.Germany, 1.285 active last fortnight.
#2 OcUK, 260 active.
#3 SETI@Netherlands, 481 active.
#4 BBR, 239 active.

Pokey waves to Engineer.

BBR has quite a few more active right now than we do.

Well, you can use a normal HTTP proxy for connections. BOINC caches its own work units, and is controlled remotely via each project's web site. What more would you need?

I shall lose my 3 work rigs when S@H1 dies.

I can't use the net connection there (company servers blocks non standard apps as far as I can work out[edit]I think anyway).I use SETIQ on a flash drive to transfer WUs & results to & from work.
No SETIQ for BOINC means no BOINC

Same position as Assimilator1.
I can't use the net connection for SETI at work.
So I need a project supplying a SETIQ like solution.
BOINC don't so no BOINC for me at work (70% of my production... )

Hmmm...

When I started SETI BOINC, I detached from the project at one point. I then discovered that this deleted all my ready to send results! :Q

I had a backup of the BOINC folder, but it was a much earlier backup, and I still had several Predictor WUs that I'd completed since then. So I checked out the XML files and managed to merge the old and new ones. It didn't save any work, but it decreased the number of WUs I'd never return.

It looks to me like it wouldn't be too difficult to sneakernet SETI BOINC. You'd just need to move the work units in the projects folder, and move all the relevant sections in the client_state.xml file. For the most part, the relevant XML sections have the names of the relevant work units in them.

It should work, but it will take some trial and error. Be sure to back up your BOINC folders, and good luck!

Alternately, you could try something like sneakernetting the entire client.

Not practicle.

I only have have 3 work rigs but little spare time to mess with them & very limited access time to them. The rig with SETIQ has the most free time ,hence the Q is on it.The others are set & forget ,I often don't touch them for months & months on end. That way I rarely disturb the users of them.

Pitty ,but like I said not practicle
I may experiment to try & see if the work Q can access my home Q via port 80 but I think I might of already tried that & it didn't work.

IF you can't find a way to do seti on them you can setup find a drug with one machine as the server and the other machines only connecting to it.

That sounds good to me ,I'd definetly be up for that

I didn't know FaD could do that ,so the client thats acting as a server could then be copied in its entirety to my flash drive & flushed at home?
Could I then delete the flushed 'results' off the client at work so as to not send dup's?
Or is it more like DPAD with a single main results file that would need overwriting?.....though what would happen to the work done over the weekend?

One other issue ,the 3 work rigs only have 128MB RAM:roll: ,how much RAM does FaD use?

Hello Surge On

You'll find we are a group of "individualists" that go where ever their hearts desire. lol One nice thing about BOINC is it will allow participants to choose many different projects and a specific proportion of CPU time dedicated to each.

I think it would be most cool if ALL Distributed Computing projects could be crunched under one umbrella and we all just join TeAm AnandTech ... but then I've always been a dreamer.

I know fad uses very little ram. I have it running on machines with 128 megs with no trouble at all and I know they are people sneakernetting it. I will get more details on it for you.
