No way texas is gonna join the B10. Would be nice, but I just don't see it happening.
Yeah, I don't think they will either unfortunately.

ElFenix, did you see that U of H is going to build a new $160M stadium? On front cover of chron.com
Texas is not going to join the SEC. It might help them from a monetary perspective but they gain nothing in terms of competitive advantage in football. In fact they would take a step back. The Pac 10 is a much better fit for them. I'm sure other SEC regular contenders don't want to see them in the SEC either so it does work both ways.
the only way UT would go to the SEC is if it could demand improvement in academic standards, which the SEC would never agree to. only 2 AAU members in that conference. big 12 had 6. Pac Televen now has 8.
So Boise State has announce they are moving to the Mountain West. I wonder if Kansas and K State will move there?

I'd really like the Big 10 to snag Kansas, but I don't think it will happen. Or at least, I've not heard any rumors stating that. It would be a great addition for basketball at least.
Both will only go to the MWC if there aren't any other options available.
Has Nebraska officially declared their move to the Big 10?
Exactly - Texas and aTm open up TV revenues. Getting Rutgers and Syracuse would be good as well. Screw ND.
Not officially. Its rumored to be announced today by ESPN.
I think Kansas still has a shot, it all depends on how the "more desirable" teams shake out. I'm still hopeful Texas ends up in the B10 if aTm ends up going to the SEC
In my ideal world, the Big 10 adds Nebraska, Texas, Notre Dame, Kansas, and Syracuse or Pitt. Yes, I know -- Kansas isn't a perennial football power, but neither are Northwestern, Indiana, or Iowa. Kansas has a storied basketball program (like Indiana's) and would add to the prestige of the conference.
Now, I am pretty sure the Big 10 won't get Texas (unless they add TAMU as well, right?) and at this stage, reasonably sure they won't get Notre Dame either. So at that point, do you expand to 14 or just add Nebraska and stay at 12?
It was announced this morning by the MWC.
"We are pleased and excited to welcome Boise State University to the Mountain West Conference," said Commissioner Craig Thompson in a statement.
I'm thinking Missouri and aTm are going to bolt to the SEC.
Just makes sense from a geographical perspective .

Saddens me that you put Iowa in the same breath as Indiana and NW, yet don't mention Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois or Purdue, most of which Iowa has a better prestige than.
Iowa is like most of the other Big 10 schools outside of Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State when it comes to football -- they might have a streak of good years here and there, but they aren't on the same level of the perennial elites of the conference. And yes, I know Michigan isn't up to its usual self, but it has the tradition and will be back.
Plus in terms of basketball, Purdue is #1 or #2 in the conference now (battling with Michigan State and maybe you could add Ohio State to the mix) and even though Indiana is rebuilding, it spanks all the other Big 10 teams in terms of tradition with only Michigan State being close.
you think purdue has that much tradition?
I remember them being a whipping boy until recent times in basketball
Iowa can suck a big one imo, with the BS recuiting crap, Indiana knows that goes now, as its all posion from the same source.......
I guess it depends on where you live if its morning yet. But its afternoon for me and it was just announced. Even has the big breaking news banner on SI.
