bone-chilling: fry's new pricematch policy

just went to my local fry's to get a pack of the free GMRS radios... only to find out that fry's no longer pricematches to websites (even their own!!!) and only pricematches to other shops in the area of the newspaper.
This means that the deals posted for LA fry's don't necessarily apply here in the bay area.

I don't think I was ever able to PriceMatch Fry's to anything on internet (including Outpost). If you were able to do so before, consider yourself lucky (or consider me unlucky).

Fry's never pricematched online companies. Even though Outpost is owned by Fry's, Fry's still operates it as a seperate entity so they don't pricematch from them either.

Do you guys remember when that commercial first came out? And didn't go "are always at ... Fry's!" ... it went something like "are always at .... FFFFFRRRRYYYYY'SSSSSSSSS!" like some ridiculous Tonight Show parody.

Then they eventually made it more acceptable to the general public's palate. When the ad first came out, the CG was pretty terrible ... the prob was they continued to use the same ad for years down the line.

Is it just me, or are they just clarifying they never had a pricematch policy in the first place? 'Guaranteed' low prices nothing, they don't pricematch anything, nor have I ever heard of them doing so. And about PMing their own site, CSR's like to pull some BS about that too. They never have, nor ever will, pricematch anything.

Their online store has a much lower overhead cost .. If I was a business owner I wouldn't pricematch my online store either.

Outpost is not fry's online store. Fry's owns Outpost and supplies them, but they're otherwise independent of each other. As far as for pricematching, it's always been to local area stores, ever since I started shopping there, 95'. I remember to get a Bay Area price for an item in Orange County, and they wouldn't let me do it.

Yeah, Fry's customer service sucks and I sometimes had trouble understanding what the heck they were saying, but man do I wish they would open one in Detroit! They do have some of the hottest deals around.

I didn't know Fry's employed managers above the stupid level... jk, anyways yeah Fry's customer support um, isn't very good but I'm thankful anyways that I have a Fry's around here.

I always had problems pricematching even local stores at frys. They always want to call and frankly seem to do everything to try and not pricematch.

My easiest pricematch was when Compusa had the $9.99 Die Hard dvd's. I was at fry's over an hour before Compusa opened and he told me I had to wait to get my pricematch so he could call. I then turned to my brother and began talking about how many other people will end up getting pricematched since i planned on telling them all about the lower price at Compusa since we had to wait an hour anyway.

The salesperson sighed and told me he would give us each our pricematch right then. I guess he did not want a small crowd waiting for him to call compusa

well I don't find it strange to have to wait till the store is open. I mean you're just saying they have it for 10 bucks. I mean wouldn't u check if yourself if some customer just told you X store has it for X price, you would believe them without checking.

I have zero problems with frys PMing local stores. I bring printed Ad competitor or their own, no hassle. few key strokes and I'm on my way.

As for no online pricematching, its nothing new to me. Though I find it wierd Frys computers shows stocks of all stores including outpost. Why they don't pricematch themselves beats me.
