I have just been all over the NV Forums. It is up and working fine. Here is a quote from the Moderator:

We have received a few complaints about messages or topics that were deleted by the moderators. I am happy to say that each complaint was from the offending poster, and not from any of the regular users on the forum. The guidelines for posting messages are at the top of each forum. It is not a very forbidding list unless the user?s intentions are to violate the general spirit of the forum as a place for NVIDIA customers and enthusiasts to exchange tips, engage in topical discussion, or enjoy the interaction of other like-minded individuals.

We have generally not deleted messages or threads of a critical nature as long as the issues have been presented in a respectful manner along with relevant information. In fact, almost the only time attention is turned to a topic that is ultimately deleted is when another user sends a notice to the moderators with regard to a message they find offensive, or in violation of the guidelines to such a degree they are compelled to complain.

It is in recognition of those users who value the forum that offending messages are deleted.

It doesn't appear that they just randomly ban people ........ I think there is more to this than the OP is admitting to.

Think Again.

TDBone has no clue.....
I would say less than 30% of the people with highend hardware are running winXP 64 .....now thats funny!!

Old Hippie is right on!!!!

im telling ya it was getting BAD over there
i seen a moderator ban at least 30 ppl in less then 5hrs
it isnt just me
and im not saying everyone that runs xp x64 has hardware but im also not saying (just count us out cause we dont make a diff in sales of highend hardware)

ive been running ati x850s, x1800s and x1900xtx (that i just returned) for over 2 years on xp64 and it ran freaking great
so dont act like its not a gamin OS too
if remember right werent alot of ppl saying windows 2000 is NOT a gaming OS
well take a peak at what we are all using today
NT technogy is in windows xp and vista
its not new

Bone you have no clue what your ranting about!!
WIN2000 is almist as bad as winME was for gaming!!

Just because winXP has some of the same stuff as win2000 does not mean that win2000 was a gaming OS!!

Quite frankly using 2000 you get an over all slower game...it truly is NOT a gaming platform!!

What a bunch of rude bastard responses. In particular, Tarrant64 made *6* replies just to be a a** that many times. I don't think I want to ever see a post from him again.

The guy posted his situation and wasn't rude, and the replies could have explained some things to him politely.

Sorry it happened to you tdbone. Can you switch to win xp 32 inustead of 64?

It's too bad they put out bad products this way - Win XP 64 *could* have been done nicely.

GenX showing his usual level of logic compares the latest OS and lack of it being mentioned with an 8 year old OS and its lack of being mentioned as being equivalent.

My 6 replies stayed on topic, and I made what I thought was a mostly appropriate response for claims that were obviously not researched before posting. You made your own choice about reading this thread. You will most likely see many more posts from me in the future as well.

There was nothing to explain to someone that doesn't know what he was talking about. There were short and to the point responses from everyone. Don't single me out.

I'm not feeling too sorry, and I did mention he should blow the money wasted on xp 32.

It's too bad they put out bad products this way - Win XP 64 *could* have been done nicely.
Yes, we discussed that.

GenX showing his usual level of logic compares the latest OS and lack of it being mentioned with an 8 year old OS and its lack of being mentioned as being equivalent.

And where's your logic in this response? What can you offer to better help Mr. tdbone1? Someone who is quick to put blame on reviews and forums online for not providing him enough informatino or not giving the "hints, headsup, tip" he needed before blowing $500 on a video card that won't work on a not so great OS, is going to get bastard responses. Especially if he can't seem to type in paragraphs.

I could post links giving him the information that he needs, maybe. But it seems he's done his research, and it wasn't enough. Lesson learned.

And for clarity, this is my first response to you, to be an ass.

Allow me to take the time, that should have been used by the OP, to give some insight on some things he may have missed.

Here's an old review, although most of what is stated still holds true today.

Windows XP 64-bit review:
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/windowsxp_x64_preview2.asp
CNET Review
Still old, and not the greatest source IMHO, but the overall message is still there.

Here's another. A little more recent, however this one is still kind of up in the air as far as final words go for Windows Xp 64-bit. I will give you some credit for this one, although the information you were seeking obviously isn't clearly found in this review.
http://www.activewin.com/articles/2006/8.shtml

And let's close the review with an overall impression after some time has passed from the original first review:
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/windowsxp_x64.asp

As stated, not much has changed even now.

Driver Support.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_97.02.html

The only drivers currently listed are for Windows XP. Straight from the manufacturer.

Latest Beta drivers for Windows XP 64-bit:
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_winxp_2k_64bit_93.81.html
And if you look carefully, you will see no Nvidia 8xxx series video cards on the list.

I'm having trouble finding anything around that says 8800GTS is a good choice for the Windows XP 64-bit OS.

A lot of searches bring up 8800gts running on Linux though. Seems to be a little bit of support there...

Over the next few months as Nvidia progress their 8xxx you will most likely see better driver support in the future.

Reading reviews and searching forums is only preparation for posting a question for clarification and advise for your particular situation. Anytime that you are going to make a significant move, in anything, much less computers, it would be wise to post your own thread in that regards. Especially including your own rig's specifications. Even with these steps taken, there is no guarantee that your purchase will work flawlessly, but it will increase your odds of success.

You still don't use grammar right, even though you, yourself, knows it incorrect. Stop with the half sentences and phrases! It makes me want to take English again!!!

And there is Craig234's douchebagness showing again with his inability to understand the point of my response.

No surprise though coming from you.

Actually Vista was RTM'ed about 2 weeks ago. If you are a developer (or volume license holder I assume) you can download and install the released version of Vista now. I have a burned DVD sitting right here waiting for my next build.

While it is true that it won't be generally available for another 2 months or so, it would be nice if there were at least beta drivers for the 8800's out at this point since presumably NVidia would want 4-6 weeks of testing (I would think anyway) before releasing drivers and the window to do that and do a simultaneous release with Vista is rapidly closing. Note that I haven't looked for Vista 8800 drivers at all so maybe there are.

Nvidia's current drivers don't include support for the 8800's yet. Although, it clearly states on the 8800 FAQ that it has Vista support.

Also, welcome to the forums. tdbone1, you too.

Other then the OP being a bit naive about thinking he would get support in X64 caused it says its vista compliant eventhough they are not officially relased, I think most of the ppl in here have been acting like arses...

I would start after reading a few of these post, by banning some member in this forum. Maybe this should be forwarded on to a mod?

Crackrabbit....<STFU moron.> This kind of talk is not needed. If you cannot help in this forum then I think it is you who needs to read and follow ithat comment.

All the rest of the grammar police should attack his argument unless they are not intelligent enough to do that. Personal attacks look a little childish to me. You guys act like the school bully. You know the one. The one who was held back a few grades and lives in a trailer, so he just teases the other kids clothes, hair, and how they talk. LOL.
