I like boneless so that I can eat it easilly and not get that spice all over my face. I go for the hottest wings that any restaurant has, and it isn't pleasant if it gets in the wrong location.

Link? I'm interested in this as based on my experience fat & connective tissue definitely has a positive impact on flavor.

This. Boneless are less work, cleaner, and provide a chicken based vehicle for sauce consumption. I personally don't find anything exciting about the taste/texture of fat/connective tissue.

You are eating chicken nuggets shaped as wings. That ain't no chicken wing.

We've already covered that drumsticks aren't wings either .. but you'd still consider it a wing? Therefore the determining factor is included bone?

A big fail on the boneless chicken wing in my book.

Are you eating the wings or making sweet love to them?

The little "drumsticks" typically served is part of the wing. Do you know what a full chicken wing looks like?

There's the "drumstick" part (upper), then there's what you would call wings (middle section), and then there's the tip (usually discarded and not served). They are just separated for ease of eating.

Look at this pic that sdifox linked earlier in this thread. This is a full chicken wing:

I'm well aware of that anatomy of the chicken. Speaking of ease of eating, I wish they had boneless wings so that I could enjoy the flavor of chicken in the style of wings, without having to put up with bone/connective tissue that isn't nearly as fulfilling.

Regular boned wings also don't have much meat on them, too much work for too little reward. I prefer the boneless ones myself.

Nonsense. Take a chicken wing, toss it in the deep fryer and eat it. Then try to tell me there's no flavor there.

If you are aware of the anatomy, then I really don't know how you can argue the "drumsticks" aren't part of the wing.

Convenience is one thing, but if "boneless wings" are actually made of breast meat they really shouldn't be called as such. I know that true boneless wings do exist at least in Asia (typically higher end cuisine. It requires skills to debone the chicken wing but leaving the meat and skin in one piece), so I didn't even know that they used breast meat and call that "boneless wings" here.

you are eating a chicken nugget shaped like a chicken wing.

i've never seen a 'boneless wing' that looked anything like a chicken wing. they usually look like exactly what they are: chicken nuggets in delicious wing sauce.

Yes, real drumsticks are from the chicken leg.

This is what you're thinking. Drumstick from chicken leg (right side of following pic) - http://www.laverstokepark.co.u...0351_chicken_leg_1.jpg

But, I'm referring to the section of the chicken wing that looks like a smaller version of a drumstick.

Chicken wing (the "mini-drumstick" is the part attached to the middle section but not the wingtip) -
http://s76.photobucket.com/alb...otatoChickenWingKC.jpg

I hope that's what's being referred to all along. I have never ever seen drumsticks from the leg being served with buffalo wings before. That would look really strange as the drumstick would be much bigger in size.

all that matters is how it's cooked and the sauce.
The boneless wings I get are made with all real breast meat, I'm not sure where you guy are getting them from where it's nuggets. The chicken I eat is quality and definitely not chopped and formed. You know, you can take a big ass chicken breast and cut it so it the pieces look like a drumstick or wing right? I've done it plenty of times

First you declare that the wings you eat are so spicy that you can't tell what kind of meat they are, then you proclaim that they are only breast meat, of the finest quality. If the first is true, how could you possibly know the second?

i don't think it's what was talked about. a lot of chicken wing places also serve drumsticks in wing sauce.

and it's not at all difficult to delete the giant nest of quotes.

Indeed, one of BWW's special days is "leg day" (or at least it used to be) featuring regular drumsticks.

HOW DARE YOU!

all flappers for easier eatin...

Yep. Twist, break the joint. Pull out the smaller bone leaving yummy meat and tissue on the bigger bone. Put that in your mouth and suck/chew all the meat off in one big bite, pull cleaned bone out.

The whole move to twist, break, bite, suck takes like 3 seconds.

Don't forget to loosen your throat.

You talking about the little drummies? B/c they are part of the wing. The wing has 2 (or 3 depending how you look at it) parts.

Yes, some places serve drumsticks too. But, do they randomly throw in drumsticks when wings are ordered?

But, the point is kind of lost in the thread as it seems that nobody really cares what part of the chicken they get as long it is chicken

nuggets have a totally different texture than breast meat. The taste is indistinguable but the texture of the meat definitely isn't.

It's kind of like the old 'blame the butcher' mentality. OTOH, I for one savor the canivoristic pleasure of sucking the flesh off of bones. BTW, my smoked pork spareribs are to freakin die for. My buffalo wings... you're obviously unworthy of such joy.
