Just got this Leadtek AGP 6600GT card installed. Coolbits shows default memory clock @ 900mhz, not the 1000mhz that the Chief Value website listed.

Damn! I paid extra for the Leadtek b/c of the quality of the card, and b/c it was clocked at 500/1000 supposedly, not 500/900. I wish I had just saved $20 and bought the cheaper Chaintech model.

I'm debating whether to call ChiefValue or not to see what, if anything, can be done.

Most (all?) AGP 6600GTs come with 900Mhz RAM. Evidently the place you bought from was mistaken in their listing. Caveat Emptor.

Leadtek does have good quality, it seems the website just got the description wrong.
Check the markings on the memory chips and if it's 2 ns ram that means it is rated to run at 500 or 1000 effective. Then you should be able to overclock it to 1000 with coolbits or Rivatuner. Of course you need to check it carefully to make sure it will be OK and stable at those clocks, but many 6600GT's seem to run at 1100 or a bit faster. Good luck.

Yes most AGP 6600GT's are 500/900, and Leadtek is one of these companies using slower RAM on their AGP cards.

However, that's false advertising on that site, plain and simple. If you really feel it's worth it, you can B&M (bitch and moan) and tell them they misrepresented their product and they should give you a refund or a replacement; I'm not sure if they would have any 500/1000 clocked AGP cards in stock, though, as these are rare.

More than likely you'll realize that the time spent shipping back the card and waiting on a new one or getting a refund and shopping elsewhere just isn't worth it and you'll do what most of us saps would do (like myself) and that is sigh loudly and then just move on. If it's really that important to you, it should o/c to 500/1000 pretty easily as long as you have decent cooling.

Sucks that they misrepresented the product like that, though. Maybe you can see if they'll give you a store credit or something for the next time.

Heh, that is what I will generally do, but my dad is a different story. He would love for this to happen to him; in fact, he thrives off of this kind of thing and seems to get perverse satisfaction battling companies.

In this case, I believe I would keep it. You've a good card made by a reputable manufacturer that meets NVIDIA specs. Chalk it up as a learning experience and drive on. I would notify Chief Value though.

I'd tell 'em to knock something off your price for their error, and to correct their website.

thanks for the replies

it overclocks to like 530/1050 anyway, so I'm not going to sweat it. I'll let CV know though, maybe I'll get a free FX-55!!!

Just kidding.
