I have Win98 and Win2000 on my system on C and D drive respectively and the default was to load win2000, but I wanted to change that to win98, and I messed with the boot.ini file and now its all f*cked up, this is what the boot loader presents:

Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 98
Windows 98 (default) <---Highlighted

Now the problem is that it tries to load up on the highlighted item and it just gives me an error when booting, I have to manually select win98 or win2k now everytime, here is my boot.ini file if anybody can help me:

<boot.ini>

[boot loader]
timeout=30
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows 98"

</boot.ini>

CAN ANYONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're joking me if people don't know this... Im not ognna tell you how, but Im gonna help you help yourself.

See the top "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT"? That's what you're booting off of by default. See the "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT" on the bottom? And then C:\="blah" below that? These are the two OPTIONS.

Now, looking at the syntax at the bottom, gimmie a guess on how you're going to change the default.

This is my boot.ini file (the edited version, not the original one):

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=C:\
[operating systems]
C:\ = "Microsoft Windows ME"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000" /fastdetect

When my PC starts, the first item in the menu is "Microsoft Windows ME" and it's highlighted. After the 10 seconds countdown, the PC boots by default into Windows ME. The second choice is "Microsoft Windows 2000" which I have to manually select in order to boot. Hope this helps.

Update
Comparing your boot.ini to mine I see that on yours the next line below "timeout=30" is missing "default=...". Just add what's missing and you should be set.
