Boot problem...POST issues

This is a strange problem that I've never run into before.

I was installing a new power supply in my machine in order to test it for a friend, but it did not work. When I put my own power supply back in, the system would not boot...fans powered up, but I would get no POST. I pulled the power cable from the mobo, and reset my BIOS...the system would now post at board defaults. I went into the BIOS, and reset my configuration to my normal settings, Saved and exited from the BIOS, and again, no POST.

I reset the BIOS again in the same manner, and once again, it posted at board defaults. This time I hit F1 to continue to load Windows, and I booted into Windows with no problem.

It seems that every time I try to reboot, whether it be a cold or warm boot, I need to reset the BIOS through the mobo jumper before I can POST. Any help on the problem would be appreciated. Temps are not a problem, and all components were working without problem before the PSU switch. Thanks.

System Specs:

AMD XP 3200 Barton 400Mhz FSB
A7N8X-E Duluxe mobo
Antec TruePower 430 watt PSU (5 months old)
1Gb Mushkin PC3200 DDR
ATI X800XT
3HDD's
Lite-On DVDR/RW drive

Your motherboard has onboard speech diagnostics. What's it say when it doesn't POST, if you plug powered speakers or headphones into the audio-out jack?

My first idea would be this:

1) let the board POST at defaults, and go into the BIOS

2) make just one change: boost the memory voltage to 2.7 volts, then do a Save & Exit, and let the board proceed ALL the way through the next POST until it stalls or boots up Windows.

3) now that the board knows to keep the 2.7 volts, go in and change the other settings (bus speed, etc). Save & Exit and see if it's happy now.

I get no message when I don't get the machine to post.

I'm not sure if you understood my previous post...I have to reset my mobo settings by the jumper in order to be able to reboot at all. Even if I make no changes to the BIOS settings, I have to pull the jumper to reset the mobo settings. If I go in and make a change (even bumping up the memory voltage), I will not be able to boot at all until I reset the BIOS again.

I get no beeps, no error messages, or anything. The fans spin, and the system seems to have power, but I get nothing.

I appreciate the try...any other ideas? Thanks.

Voltage ok on your CMOS battery? They're only a couple dollars if you have to buy a new one.
