got awsome asus k8n-e delux board and 3200 newcaste ( 754 ). it won't boot. no signal to monitor. i tested out multiple video cards on agp and all the PCI slots. no go. tried new ram too ( single to dual sticks ). i have a 450w power supply and i beleive it met the requirements for the motherboard. ( even though it alittle funny reading the information on the side of the PS )

i'm getting no boot beeps from the speaker. any clue? i tried looking locally for somsone with a 754 board and CPU so i can test them. but no luck.

anyone live in Westchester, NY area that has access to these components that i could possibly use for 15-20min?

somsone suggested some PCI card that gives you detailed info about boot problems. but i had never heard of them.

any other methods you guys use when your trying to troubleshoot a problem like this?

I would first hook up only essentials to run MB, outside of case, with agp ram cpu, hook it up to power supply and see if it will boot after you clear CMOS.

yup ^

check that HSF is mounted correctly, and that it is plugged into the CPU fan header.

Try resetting the CMOS.

after i couldn't boot it up like 10 times, i decided to look at jumper issues. so i first tried clearing CMOS. didn't work. tried doing an "essentials" boot but it didn't work either. tried with cpu, pci, ram and cpu, agp, ram. and then threw in a HD the 5th or 6th time. left it in the case, that deson't matter right?

i also removed the processor and re-attacthed the hsf a couple times. still nothing. ( replacing the liquid everytime of course ).

should i rma the two back to newegg and start over?

is it possible that it wouldn't say the post errors? i'm using headphones. i tried all the audio ports and got nothing after a 15 second wait.

well it turns on. but it sounds like it is about to boot all fully and stuff, and then it just runs in sort of like a silent mode. i hope that is just what it is going to sound like while it is running =)

all the other computers i have built/used sound much louder than this. so i'd think something isn't all correct.

the green light indicator is on. but when i turn it on, it just starts running, and no signal to monitor.

Reseat the video card push hard. Since you should at least get video to get into the bios. Unless the cpu wasn't installed right. Like posted earlier make sure the cpu fan is on the cpu fan header. Since some boards will turn off it thinks your not running a fan on the heatsink. Although you may have it hooked up to another header. Take mb out of case just in case somethings shorting out.

i don't know how i could insert the CPU incorrectly. it only goes in one way( always had to laugh at people who destroyed their pins ). and i do have the FAN plugged into correct spot. it says "cpu fan" or something on the motherboard.

i tried different video cards already, making sure i did plug them in all the way. but i'll try it again. be back in 3 min.

do i have to see the bootup screen to hear the POST messages? and should i have the headphones in the orange jack?

i took it out of the case, sitting next to monitor now. plugged in AGP card, 2 sticks of ram, and cpu was already in place. turned it on, still nothing.

i also tried pluggins hsf into another fan socket. the fan ran faster, but still a no go.

( cleared CMOS again too )

Try 1 stick ram otherwise it isn't looking good. I would also remove the heatsink and make sure the cpu is on right.

well, still no luck with anything so i'm RMAing it back to newegg. i always had my doubts about ordering from them, and now i know i should stick to my tigerdirect.

should i request a new CPU as well just in case? or you guys think it is the motherboard. i'm leaning towards the motherboard just being broken. but i guess i'll find out in a week or so.

anyone who has RMAed before, if i send it to them 1 day air, they just gonna send it back fedex express saver? or can i request a 1-2 day transaction?

New Egg has nothing to do with your problem at all. Check reseller ratings, New Egg has one of the best ratings on the net. Tiger Direct is only average. Unless something else like your power supply is causing the problem, you either have a bad board or bad CPU. It happens and where you got it has no bearing on it. Be sure your power supply is ok. Do you have another you can try? you never know.

Also another user here asked you, do you have both the ATX power connector and the 4-Pin 12Volt connector from the power supply plugged into the motherboard?

A PCI card that helps identify some of these problems is the SOYO TECH AID . I have seen it for sale at both Micro Center and NEWEGG. Newegg is a good site - I have used them without problems. When I needed to RMA a board I just went straight to the company that created the board.
Newegg also had an inexpensive power supply tester - I have not used it but test it out in the future.
When you were putting the parts together - did you keep yourself grounded so that static electricity would not create some problems?

didn't see someone asking me about the 4pin-12v connector. but yes, i did plug it in. and i tried another motherboard with my powersupply. it worked.

i work on concrete and with rubber gloves. i don't know proper measures for grounded oneselef, but i'd think rubber shoes help too? =)

i work on carpet all the time and never had a problem with static electricity before. except that one time i shocked a PS with my finger and it sorta wouldnt work anymore. you'd need to feel the shock to short something out right?

i don't really have anything against newegg, but i always used ot buy my products from tigerdirect, and never once had a problem. there was just something about newegg that didn't really catch me. now the one time i use it this happens. doesn't really boost my moral :/

Understood. I would probably feel the same way if it was my first time with Newegg. What other motherboard did you try with the Power Supply? The A64 takes a lot more current than some older CPU's. Could very well be the board.

I say it's the board... but no, you don't need to feel the shock for something to go out. computer components are VERY static sensitive. You would hardly ever feel the shock when you zap a computer part. Unless, it's the power supply BTW, if you have the wrong power supply for your mobo, it can be wrecked. (I've done it before). Make sure you get the right PSU before you burn another RMA.

- If you really put liquid on it, that ( the cpu ) could be the problem. hehe, sorry, just never heard of thermal solution referred to as liquid. It is so not liquidy.
