I was shopping around for some round IDE cables and I noticed some are referred to as "bootless" while others are "booted". What exactly do they mean by that? I've never heard that term when referring to IDE cables.
Bootless IDE Cables do not have the plastic shroud around the connectors, while the booted have a plastic shrouding wrapped around the wires and the connector. Booted are better in the sense it prevents you from yanking the cable from the wires which could disconnect them from the connector. On the other hand though, some bootless IDE cable employs a tab for pulling off the cable from the mob IDE connector.
