Does one benefit greatly by playing Borderlands before playing Borderlands 2? Or is simply starting from BL2 good enough?

I think BL2 is a more polished game. I also think if you play BL2 first then you won't have fun with BL. I'd play the first one first.

I'd try BL1 first. If you find it fun, stick with it, and do at least one playthrough. Try out each different character class too.

There are some things in BL2 that you will appreciate and understand a lot more if you've already played BL1.

ye. It's tough to go back to BL1 after you spend a lot of time in BL2

I will say that BL2 has a really good story--BL1 has zero story and very little character. However, a lot of the enjoyment of BL2's story comes from having finished BL1, and especially having spent significant time with some of those characters (I'd recommend playing Lilith or Mordecai if you go with BL1)

The BL1 content is worth one playthrough for sure. I'd playthrough it all-including the DLC-once. The Siren is a reasonable solo character.

There's not a ton of plot, but there's some funny stuff and the gameplay is good.

So I recently started playing this game. I bought it in the summer and played for a couple hours, but didn't enjoy it much. I think it's because the friends I was playing with were rushing through everything, perhaps because they had all done it before. I tried it again, going at my own pace, which was much more enjoyable. I'm up to level 14 as Zer0.

Anyway, I see that Gearbox created this "Loot the World" mobile app that will scan bar codes/QR codes and assign loot to that code, which you can then send to your in-game character. I've tried it out a little, but everything is way higher level than I am, and it's all white. Anyone get anything good?

Another vote for BL1 first. Siren is a good choice.

As said above, the story is slight but it lays a lot of groundwork for the real story in BL2. The story in BL2 gets a lot of its depth from playing off of the characters and events in BL1.

What the freak is this:
Borderlands 2: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day (release date Dec 17).

Is this another rip off DLC or a real DLC like tina's dragon ....

So did they not say who won prizes in the sweepstakes?
Sweepstakes begins at 11:00:00 am Eastern Time (‘ET') on October 12, 2013 and ends at 10:59:59 am ET on November 9, 2013 (‘Sweepstakes Period'). Each week of the Sweepstakes Period will be a separate ‘Sweepstakes Week.' Each Sweepstakes Week begins on Saturday at 11:00:00 am ET and ends the following Saturday at 10:59:59 am. There will be a total of four (4) Sweepstakes Weeks throughout the Sweepstakes Period

Its been a month, and no update on website or no stats like they said. lol

my only guess is that since they allowed people to mail in to participate, that might take longer to tally and organize the participants who are eligible for prizes? idk...

Well, I finally finished the main game. Glad but kinda sad too. But now there are the DLC to get and play with. I played most of the side quests and I ended up level 34 on my Commando once I got to the end. Still have quite a few optional quests to finish up.

Don't be sad, time to start another play through!

Don't bother in playthrough 1, the rewards will be low-level so only useful if you're planning to play again as other characters.

Either start True Vault Hunter Mode or a new character.

yup.

just start TVHM. or, really....ditch the commando for any one of the fun classes (the ones that aren't commando)

either way--do not start the DLC in normal mode. either jump right into them at TVHM difficulty or just play through TVHM first.

I have a sniper which originally was my main. I figured I'd like it the most since I tend to gravitate to snipers and archers in games. So far I'm really liking the Commando the most. Guess I'm weird. Got a young Gunzerker but not really liking it to be honest. I have a buddy that we play co-op together. Usually got two others that join in as well. That's a lot of fun. We only get together once a week but I look forward to it each time. I need to figure out what this TVHM is and try it out. I need to get some DLC too. Looking for some Steam Xmas deals. I'm sure I'll find some.

True Vault Hunter is nothing to get excited about, in my opinion. It's like a dungeon in WoW or something, just a bunch of enemies to fight to get extra levels to milk a bit more money out of you after you finish the game, that's how I see it.

The Season Pass is on-sale for $20 on Steam right now, I think, and it might get lower on a daily deal, so keep an eye on that (and buy it for $20 at the end of the Steam Holiday Sale, if nothing else). I just got the GotY Edition on 360 so my cousin and I can co-op, and it's a lot of fun. The only negative is that we play on the same console, and splitscreen's a bit annoying. We're in the high-teens, I'm and Assassin and he's a Siren.

True vault hunter is just a complete replay of the game at a higher difficulty. I don't see how that is a money grab. I don't remember for sure, it may have cost to unlock ultimate vault hunter mode, but for sure TVHM costs nothing.

TVHM = playthrough 2, which costs $0. Were you thinking of Ultimate VHM (playthrough 3), or Digistruct Peak, or something else?

TVHM is nice because even though the maps are the same, there are more enemies and they are more dangerous, but you have much more of your skill tree filled in and can have one of the "capstone" last skills in the tree.

For example with the psycho you can have the skill where anytime someone shoots you, you send out a homing fireball that explodes and lights them up. Fun.

yeah. True Vault Hunter is an intrinsic part of the base game. It doesn't cost anything extra.

UVHM was an addon, that also increases level cap to 61.

kinda pointless--the GOTY content can generally be had for less than 20 for most of the year, and the base game alone is well worth more than that.

Getting to end of Tina Tina's DLC and I must say it was extremely well done. We've been farming up the 3 wizards, probably 20 runs or so, and scored 7 legendaries....they seem to come in spurts with those guys but they are by far the best payoff we've seen. Last night in 5 runs we got 2 flakkers, a volcano and a conference call. And how bout that Sacrifice table on the way up there? We ended getting 2 chubbies out of that...I give you these CHUMPS

Anyone have any tips for killing the ancient dragons??? We had one only about 1/2 down after 10 minutes and 2 of them have leveled up to 80.
