Ooo I could totally use some more nerdy-looking stuff on my wall. Maybe I ought to do something like that with my collector's edition stuff! I've already got a Mordecai and Claptrap poster upstairs and a Lilith poster downstairs.

That's pretty cool, how much did that run you?

well, once the framer and I figured out how everything should be placed, it was too big for a standard mat and glass and oversized stuff needed to be special ordered, so with that in mind plus the double matting it was 450.00 usd.

turned out pretty awesome imo tho. my crap glare pic doesn't do it justice.

So who is playing the new DLC that came out today? It looks interesting but from what I have read you need a pretty high level character to play it. I have been doing a bunch of single runs so far (no TVHM) so I'm not sure if a level 35 character is going to cut it.

I finished it today (main story only) at level 50. It's really short, and the primary antagonist is terrible. Fairly disapointed with it. Still working through sides, and haven't tried the invincibles yet, but it just didn't grab me.

That's too bad. I quite enjoyed the Captain Scarlett DLC and was hoping this would be more of the same.

I love this game. I appears to be the redneck version of Mass Effect without any of the suckiness. True vault hunter mode can be hard at times if you are not properly equipped.

Been playing for about 100 hours so far. I was afraid I would burn out quickly since it's largely more of the same as Borderlands 1, but the allure of better loot just never gets old I guess. I'm about halfway through TVHM and it's more fun than the first playthrough. I did all the missions the first time around and managed to severely outlevel every area before I got to it, which made it entirely too easy. On top of that, Hunter Helquist dropped the bee the first time I killed him. Using it, I killed the warrior so fast I was kinda disappointed.

I have yet to try true vault hunter mode because I like to try the different characters. It is just the same game but everything is leveled up from the beginning? Can you only get legendary drops if you are playing TVHM?

Enemies are higher level and there are different, harder varieties of enemies. Badasses show up more often. Loot is generally better, but you can get gold drops in the first playthrough as well. I got The Bee and several other gold items in my first playthrough, but they're mostly useless in TVHM because higher level items quickly overtake them in power regardless of rarity. The only way to get the most powerful versions of weapons is to play all the way through TVHM and then go back and farm for drops or complete the side missions that offer Unique or Legendary weapons as rewards.

I'm finding myself enjoying the side missions. Plus experimenting with the new weapons has been a lot of fun.

The main plot and antagonist still suck though.

The setting also was a disappointment as well. To me "Big Game Hunt" evokes images of an African Safari with bright wide open spaces (like steppes or plains), while what we got was open but foggy, dark and dreary jungle setting.

I'm playing BL2 the same way I played BL1 for now, using a program that tricks the game into believing that I am playing with three other players, even though I'm playing alone (it also works in multi-player, and also works with BL1). It's my way to increase the difficulty, increase the longevity of the game as well, and also increasing potential items quality, and so far it works very well.

I do die very often especially with Maya, but I enjoy the game a lot nonetheless. I only started using the tool with my Siren from around Level 14 or so, but just yesterday I started a new game with the Assassin and already play with 4 players difficulty, I died two times at the first mini boss during the "tutorial" intro (the beast with the Claptrap's eye), lol, but it was fun anyway.

So just curious, but if you take a level 50 character back to normal mode to farm items
(yea, I know the bosses are really easy), can you still get rare drops, except that they will be leveled for the first playthrough? Or does the game know you are "cheating" this way and not give any rare drops? I took my level 50 siren back to try to farm items for a first playthrough for the other characters, and killed the Warrior over an over and never got any rare drops.

You'll get rare drops same as always, leveled for the max of the zone you're hunting in. It absolutely works.

Question about weapon drops, single player...

I started my second play through (TVHM) at about 40, partially through it and I am now at 50. The weapon drops have been awful. Mostly greens or less but more importantly, just not very powerful in general.

When I first started TVHM I began using my remaining golden keys to get reasonable equipment but I am out of keys now and my weapons/equipment are all mid 40s. I have gotten a couple of legendary items but their levels were so low they weren't effective.

It really feels like I am underpowered while playing the game. Is that by design? Is that their way of upping the difficulty? Just curious.

Out of keys? Well, here's five more!

Five not enough? Well, here's one more!

Unlike Borderlands 1, the weapons scale significantly in damage in the later levels. I remember how I used a level 26 Pestilent Defiler in Borderlands 1 at level 50, but that's not possible in Borderlands 2.

Is this your first playthrough, and what character are you using? I thought the game was quite difficult with my siren on the first playthrough. I agree, it is very, very difficult to get good drops. And there are a lot of "cheap" ways to die, like the suicide bots and the annoying surveyors. OTOH, the bosses are easier than in the first game. For almost every boss there is a particular spot you can stand and just chip away without taking damage until you kill him (except for the invincibles like terramorphus). I probably could not have finished the first character without the equipment I got using the golden keys though. My equipment was really lousy. Subsequent playthroughs get easier because the badass bonus points carry over, and since I have at least started every class, I have a 10+% bonus in almost every category, which makes the game considerably easier, not to mention you can share equipment between characters once you finally get something good.

If I may ask, how did you get to be level 40 before starting TVH mode? I did almost all the sidequests and was in the mid 30s level when starting TVH mode. At level 40 you should have been overlevelled a lot in the beginning, and it should have been relatively easy for a while at least. I do wish they would raise the level cap though. It takes quite a bit of the fun out of the game when you get about half to two-thirds of the way through TVH mode and can no longer level up.

Before I switched to TVHM, I played through the first 2 DLC packs. I even went back and killed the warrior a few times. Thinking about it, I may have been at 39 when I started TVHM but leveled up pretty quickly to max out at 50. Unfortunately, I did some of the side quests that apparently you aren't suppose to do in TVHM before finishing so my future farming opportunities are going to be limited. I am playing as Zer0 (Assassin) but I will probably start over with a new class at some point.

As luck would have it, I been getting a few better drops. On the way up to the bunker I got some level 50 shields and weapons. Color wise they are pretty ordinary but they are doing a better job than my lower level rares.

I have slowed down and started playing much more carefully. To be honest, I guess I was playing rather sloppily. It still tougher than I expected but I would no longer classify it as frustrating.

I just finished my normal level playthrough as an assassin. Personally, it seems one of the harder classes to me. I am playing the sniper tree, but even with all the damage bonuses, still get killed a lot in TVH mode. I suck at melee, so when the sniper tree is maxed out, I may have a hard time. Melee could be good, but I dont see how it would help much with the bosses.

I think the commando was the easiest class, at least in normal mode. The turrent is really powerful and keeps you from getting mobbed so bad. I dont know how much it will help in TVH mode though. I also like Siren, that is the only class I finished TVH mode with. Gunzerker seems like it should be a powerful class, but I did not have much luck with it.

Edit: I have not tried any of the DLC. I played BL1 and found the dlc kind of uninspiring, more suited for online loot farming than single player, which is what I mainly do. I am surprised they did not raise the level cap for those who purchase the DLC. If they had, I would have considered buying it just to raise the level cap.
