Is this game worth it for single player?
I have a terrible ping... so multiplayer might not be that great.
Yes. But in your shoes I'd start with Borderlands 1 and play through that and its DLC single-player first.
BL2 has some fun new stuff but in some ways I think the design of BL1 is a bit better for single player.
Either is great, but I would agree, BL2 was more focused to multiplayer...
In the BL2, I cant seem to get any kind of rare items from chests, only drops very rarely from bosses, and I cant seem to kill the "invincibles" solo either, which is where you are supposed to get the best loot.
Yes, I have found that a real problem in BL2. In TVHM, I was able to take down the Warrior and Bunk3r but not any other bosses. From what I have read/experienced, legendary drops seem extremely rare on single player compounding the problem.
So far, I got a legendary shield when I first beat the warrior, farming so far hasn't produced a weapon from him. I was able to farm the Bee Shield which is great in certain situations but less useful overall then I had hoped. I also got a legendary slagged SMG from a side quest, unfortunately its accuracy is on the low side which limits it a bit.
I think single player people such as myself will have to join some multiplayer games to get the needed rare weapons to have a shot at taking the big bosses down solo. Even then, it may not be possible.

I haven't had any trouble taking out any bosses solo yet. Don't have that many legendary drops and use mostly blue/green weapons. Maybe cause i'm a commando speccing in survivalist. I think i have >1.5k shield and 2.2 or 2.5k in hp.......

Ha! I also used the corrosive pistol she gave me to kill him.Im on my 2nd playthrough (just using a different character, not true vault hunter mode) with the commando and I just absolutely smoked Wilhelm just last night. I was using the corrosive gun that Tina rewards you with after completing her missions. That thing is beast. Oh, and my turret is beast too =)

I found an awesome electrocution sniper rifle that can rapid fire. I emptied the 16 round magazine on him, then switched to the corrosive pistol, and he finally died. (tossed some slag nades at him too)
You have to keep killing off his shield creator planes.

I have 78 keys saved up.

Is it just me or has the rate of codes for Golden Keys fallen way off?
