I think it depends on the weapon, though maybe it's consistent throughout.

The borderlands wiki page is fairly informative if you're not familiar with it: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki

Also, the official Gearbox BL2 forums: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/forumdisplay.php?f=139

yeah, I couldn't find that info on wiki. :\

it's funny, they get into serious details about damage percentages and bugs that aren't properly counting certain skill effects--and how they know these things--but no mention over whether an e-tech projectile counts for Chain Reaction.

I'll scan the forums though, thanks.

by the way--I meant to ask if they trigger Chain Reaction, the Siren Skill. I said ricochet instead...which is it's own universal mechanic, I guess. I know the bandit E-Tech weapons will ricochet off of surfaces by default. Chain Reaction requires "bullets" to achieve the ricochet from one target to the next effect....which is what I am trying to figure out.

This may be helpful:

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?p=4312813#post4312813

general rule of thumb for chain reaction is..."no e-techs allowed". If it is an e-tech, then it isn't going to trigger chain reaction.

Also torgue assault rifles that fire rockets instead of normal bullets would not trigger chain reaction as well. That goes the same for other manufacturer assault rifles that fire grenades, rockets, etc.

Edit: Plasma casters DO work with chain reaction.

However, if you run Thoughtlock in your build be aware that Chain Reaction does not work when shooting a Thoughtlocked enemy. You have to target a non-Thoughtlocked enemy for Chain Reaction to activate.

Okay so I figured out why I was having difficulty getting Chain Reaction to trigger after a bit of testing.

YES plasma casters do work with Chain Reaction.

But here was the interesting thing that I found out: If you run Thoughtlock in your build (which I do) and shoot the Thoughtlocked enemy, the plasma orbs will not reflect. Shoot any other enemy aside from the Thoughtlocked one and they do. What I was doing was shooting the Thoughtlocked one which is why it never triggered during my earlier test.

Oh, and some e-tech guns, especially sniper rifles, inherently pierce through enemies. There's one that starts with an M, I believe, but I can't think of it atm.

Thought I'd share this here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZVnqzjrM3P8

It's a trick so you can actually get to the practice target/dummy thing in Sanctuary and melee him. If you make it a point to NOT kill the dummy when you get the very first quest Marcus gives you (to shoot the tied up Vandal/dummy with a fire weapon) you can actually repeatedly kill them and get on-kill buffs to test stuff with. Just don't accidentally use a fire weapon like I occasionally do! If you do, just Alt-F4 and you can avoid saving the game.

Edit: Found out my lvl 33 Zer0 can hit for 1063k (over a million) on a slagged target with the Law bladed gun (during Decepti0n). That's with a very good roid shield for his level. This still isn't his max. If he had the Rapier, he'd do double that, and then if he had Killing Bl0w triggered, he could do up to 10 or 11 times that as well. Pretty nuts!

I just started playing; some siren chick who is not over-powered. I had one question though - I learned that the pyro chick cost extra; is her build interesting enough to spend the money (next time it is on sale) ? (it is normally $10). I have the base game plus season pass; I play strictly single player (though i am not oppose to one day trying co-op i don't expect it to happen).

Gaige the Mechromancer (not a "pyro chick") is an interesting class, but depending on your build choice, her mechanics can be frustrating. If you go into the fairly potent Anarchy tree, you may find yourself wanting to leave the game on to avoid having to rebuild your huge Anarchy stack. It may also leave you weeping in a corner if you end up dying as the thought of rebuilding the stacks is too much to bear.

Get the Psycho/Krieg. He is soooo much fun, assuming you like explosions and killing stuff really quickly.

Bit confused; is dying with the mechromancer different than other classes ? Also can't you respect anytime you want ?

No, it's pretty much the same. However, in the Mechromancer's Anarchy tree, there's a talent that gives you access to the Anarchy buff . This is a stacking buff that increases your damage while reducing your accuracy. The only way you lose stacks are (1) if you reload (2) if you die. You also slowly lose stacks while in Fight For Your Life, and there's a talent that changes #1 to make them slowly drain upon reload (until you reload again), but you have a health restoration while that's active. The problem is that you only gain Anarchy stacks when you (or Deathtrap) kill things or you reload your weapon, and Anarchy can stack up to... 400 via talents (I think). It takes forever to get these stacks up, and they're also cleared upon exit, so it's not uncommon to see people leave their game open with Gaige "logged in."

So I have three class 'mods' but none of them work with the character I'm playing. Can I create new characters to use these (and if so how do i transfer?) or should i just sell them in the shop ?

claptrap's first mission in sanctuary gives you a secret stash that supposedly lets you transfer items between different characters. the mission is easier than it sounds. never tried the stash myself though.

Here's a new key: CT53T-RCSWX-CJHTB-B33B3-K63KC

It is a limited use key, so it may not be available if you try and use it after too long.

It works fine, but it only holds up to four items at once.

What I found even more irritating (at myself mostly) is when I am not watching carefully, mean to hit "E" to pick up an item or open a chest, and hit R by accident and reload and lose all my anarchy stacks. Overall it does take a while to get used to not reloading but just letting your ammo run out and reload automatically. Also for me at least, it seemed if I got too many anarchy stacks the loss of accuracy more than negated the increased damage, especially with something like a sniper rifle. But it is still a fun class.

Yeah, you do eventually get used to it, and it starts to affect your other characters that you want to reload on. That's why it's usually best to put points into that reload talent, so if you do accidentally do it, you only slowly lose stacks rather than dump them all.

Yeah, I only used a sniper rifle until about 130 stacks as it ended up not being accurate enough to use it. However, it's really imperative to use the wall/floor bouncing talent to help make up for the poor accuracy.

Yea thanks; I found that and the safe shortly after my post (yea I just reach sanctuary at a whopping level of 9). It was kind of weird I used google to check and all the suggestions were to run two characters at once... hum oh well.

Will I eventually find these golden chests in Sanctuary ?

The golden chest is in the Fast Travel room in Sanctuary; however, you must have a golden key to open it. You can only get Golden Keys via codes... or cheating.

I have a few golden keys; I just started yesterday but managed to enter shift codes for the last couple of months. I suppose I should wait till I'm higher level to sue them - not sure what is consider a good level for golden keying. Hum. fast travel room; not sure I've seen that in sancturay. I have a safe and a stash - pitty the stash isn't as big as the safe but I'm only level 11.

You may want to use one ever so often while leveling as you may not have good equipment, and the key almost always provides epics (except for relics).

The Fast Travel room is near the town center. It's the building with the clothing/head change station.

In the same room where you use the golden keys on the secret chest. The keys are definitely super tempting to use though. I was able to hold off till 50, but I wanted to open them sooo badly though.

And then you do the Tiny Tina mission where you need to bring Fleshstick to her and you shoot your mildly overpowered shotgun at a building near him and everything reflects into him and kills him in one go. That was fun...

But yeah, high Anarchy + the bouncing talent = aim penalty doesn't matter anymore.

Pretty much this. I try to save them until I feel like I am dying a lot and dont have good enough gear to inflict sufficient damage.
