totally agree with this

played last night, and had a fucking blast!!

seems like some people were expecting something more form this game, but i found it to be totally awesome. the writing was hilarious...the diamond pony named 'butt stallion'?? omg, i almost passed out i started laughing so hard at that. more blowing people's faces off, lots of headshots and carnage and blood and pure violence, wheeeeee!!! exactly what i wanted... a great gaming time with friends. looks gorgeous, had all the settings jacked as high as they would go, and everything was smooth.

the only one annoying thing was that after we all got booted off steam for maintenance (bad timing for sure) there were a lot of problems trying to group up, and one friend ended up not being able to join us at all. which sucked. the menus took a minute to get used to, but other than the grouping thing, i honestly can't think of anything bad about it.

also, everything in the CE loot chest was frikkin amazing! Some really nice stuff in there.
wooohoooo!!!

I'll just keep an eye out then. I did get one that explodes on reload, that's fun.

I'm an idiot....what I had was the fast revolver, and all revolvers have that fanning motion. I do just keep using the revolvers though. I have one now that does 64 damage, so I can take down guys pretty quick. I find it more reliable than trying to use most of the other guns. Aside from sniper rifle I got for getting the fur, the guns seem kinda lame.

I'm using the commando class, so I'm kinda taking the TF2 MvM approach, and just using all my skill points to max out the turret. I have shooting speed maxed out, and its kinda like easy mode. If I'm getting my butt kicked, I just throw it down and run in a circle...the gun takes care of everyone. I wish I could repair it! Maybe there is a recharge skill that can be built up.

I have a minor issue with the video on the game. I'm still using an older Radeon 4870 and the game runs fine....but I get these "sparklies" on the edges of guns, mountains, etc....

Not sure how else to explain it...they look like little flickering pixels of light.
I upgraded to the latest ATI drivers and they are still there.

I don't notice any similar issues with any other games, so I doubt my card is going bad.

Any ideas....?

There is a major glitch still around involving those golden keys from the pre-order bonus. There's a file in your borderlands 2 folder that can be easily edited with any text editor to change the number of these golden keys you have. The first gold chest that uses these gold keys is in
Sanctuary
, and when you have a set number of keys you can keep opening this chest for as long as you want. Each time you open it up you can get 2 purple weapons. VERY exploitable. It's probably not something they want to be available to each player either. :whiste:

Borderlands 2\DLC\POPremierClub\Lic\WillodDLC is the file. You might have had to pre-order to get this, not 100% sure though.

When I get home in 40 minutes or so I'll post more info on the file.

Really not a big deal. Borderlands 1 and 2 both store your save file locally on your machine, so the game has always been open to modding and attaining items that way if you want.

Personally I think Borderlands would be so much more awesome if it was designed around a client/server system like Diablo 2. It would give the game loads more replay value and a huge online community. This game could fulfil the Diablo with guns role.

Wouldn't surprise me if something along these lines is coming in the future. The game could even support a pseudo MMO model if they wanted to go that way.

Borderlands wasn't really known for being hack/exploit proof.

I don't really have any guns that are good enough for that. I already feel dirty enough not using SMGs with a Siren!

LOL I thought I was the ONLY one who felt that way. I feel like I am cheating using a sniper rifle with my Gunzerker... But the damage calls for it.

Heh, in BL1 I never used the ARs even though I was a soldier. Once I got the SMG with x4 fire that's all I used. In BL2 I'm a heavy guy and I'm using a pistol with x2 fire, and a slow firing AR with explosive damage. Sometimes I also swap in a sniper rifle for the guys taking cover. If they peak their heads around cover they're gone

There were a select few assault rifles that I used in Borderlands 1. One of my favorites was one that fired normally from the hip, but once you looked down the scope (and it had a 2.3x scope with 94% accuracy)... it fired every bullet in the magazine with one pull of the trigger! All I had to do was aim at something's crit spot and pull the trigger... pretty much just like a sniper rifle!

Speaking of elemental items, it's interesting now to see that Gearbox lists the actual percentages on the items instead of weird pseudo values that a select few understand... which might not even be that accurate. The Combustion Hellfire stated x4 but it's actual chance was significantly higher than any other x4 weapon.

I'm actually using a Jakob's assault rifle as my secondary weapon right now, but I'm not that enthused with it. Speaking of Jakob's, I'm not a huge fan of their weapon cards. The listed fire rate is usually not indicative of how fast the weapon fires under normal conditions. The assault rifle that I have is a single round burst that fires faster as you mash the button. If you just push the trigger a few times, it's veeeeeeery slow.

Early game is always kind of weird, because you're stuck using whatever works well enough at the time rather than having that sweet ass gun that you can use for many levels. However, when I was watching Borderlands 2 videos, I cringed a bit whenever I saw someone play Salvador and pull out a sniper rifle while Gunzerking. Personally, Gunzerking has always felt like it was suited for two very fast automatic weapons, but as I mentioned... it's not that easy to find that in the early game.

Played very briefly last night before I had to take care of some errands. Ran pretty smoothly through the first quest, playing as Zer0. Having not played BL1, BL2 seems pretty humorous based on the dialogue, which is a nice change from the D3 I've been playing.

I used my key accidentally at level 10. Why would you tempt me like this?

Edit: Really it's not so bad because my secondary characters will have a pretty awesome gun to use when my main doesn't need it anymore.

Lmao i felt the same way, playing Gunzerker and keep a sniper rifle as my 2nd weapon.

How are you building yours out so far? I went with the extended ammo and clip for first 3 pts, then the other one in that tree for 2 pts.

I think you get a second key for signing up for shift. At least I did. Also, I guess lots of people have been accidentily using theirs. I haven't got there yet, but it would be nice if there was a prompt warning you before you used it.

Played some more today, still haven't found enough time to really sit down and enjoy the game though. Man, I can't wait for the weekend when I will finally have more than 1 hour of uninteruppted free time to play. I have not even made it to sanctuary yet.

Some things that stand out:

Levels are much bigger.

Your character moves much faster, jumps farther.

Weapons drops are really weird, its almost always pistols and shotguns, and shields. I have not found one smg, and finally found one sniper rifle not quest related (which I can't even use anyway).

Salvador sucks early on, being able to use two shitty guns instead of one really isn't a benefit. The other characters action skills are much more useful.

No f'n audio replay for quests. Why can't I replay recordings?????? Lots of times dialouge gets cut off because myself or someone else interacts with another npc.

No indication of when a person picks up a gun (Not that I have seen anyway). You have no idea if one person is running ahead and looting everything aside from empty chests.

I find myself struggling mightly with the inventory interface.

Dialouge and story are much better. So far it seems like Anthony Burch has done a great job.

The interface and talent pane definitely have a console feel to them. Why is it that I have to shift between sub-windows when looking at either of the aforementioned?

Yeah, the single column bars for the various components of the player's inventory is difficult to navigate and reminiscent of Skyrim's inventory before the SkyUI mod. I think it's the only area of the game in which is it is definitively worse than the original.

Still enjoying the rest of the game; haven't had that much luck with gun drops but still a lot of fun to play.

Tried to play co-op, through public matchmaking, earlier today and didn't have the best experience. Lots of people just vacuuming loot which was annoying. If anyone wants to play with me, my Steam ID is Karaya_One -- figure co-op will be more fruitful and more enjoyable if I play with other considerate players.

Although, the weird menu totally lets me check out my character's (Maya's) ass! :$

I take back what I said on pistols, the initial ones suck but I found a decent Jakobs one and it's doing the job! Having much better luck with sniper rifle drops at the moment, and only really got one semi-decent assault rifle.

I wish they would fix the texture load in on the drop items though, thats annoying to watch that go from fuzzy to clear. When I'm over 100fps nearly all the time at full settings there isn't really a good reason for that. Hell I can nearly load the entire game onto my gpu ram (can't believe this game is only 4.5gb).

You're finding out that borderlands is very, very gear dependent, and most of what you find is trash That's the way the first one was.

It also had the weird texture load thing too. Sucks, but the game is so fun it isn't a big issue.

Hey guys Quick question: I'm getting a new video card soon and I really want to play Borderlands.
Is it really necessary for me to play also the first the one or just by getting the Borderlands 2 I won't miss anything? Money is not a problem.
Thanks

Just jump into 2. It's not different enough to play through the first one, and there's no story to catch up on. It's pretty much the same game with a little more polish (which isn't bad).

That's what I'm finding too, though I think I decided on a skill path unrelated to his action skill that should work well. On the left tree (gun crazy or w/e) there's a skill that reloads all guns you're not holding after a kill. To get to this skill, up on the tree you have to follow a path which includes boosting your weapon switch time and adding bonus damage onto the first shot after a weapon switch. I think this can all build up to a pretty fun build.

I keep forgetting to use my gun turret, though I have yet to die so I guess I don't really need it.
