Not really. Money becomes a total non-issue later.
Really, if you get to the dead spot or are quick, you won't even die until you get bored or get unlucky. You can keep making the things spawn. One of the purple ones gives you as much XP as Motorhead I believe (and the others range from about 1/5-1/3 of that). You don't have to wait 15 minutes or exit out and then travel like you do for Motorhead either.
Plus, using the deadspot and the right equipment (a gun that can ricochet and then something that gives you ammo regen with that type of gun) you can actually kill Crawmerax (he'll give you a ton of XP, even close to the limit killing him netted about 2 full level increases with your weapon) and its your best chance for good loot.
I guess it does depend on your level quite a bit, and I don't know how easy non-sirens can get to the deadspot.
Also, don't forget the Armory glitch (that lets you access the weapons chests without setting off the timer so you can loot them all). Those missions should be your focus once you're level 50-60 I think, as you can get pretty good XP and should get solid loot.
Another good place to farm good weapons is the Clap Trap Revenge DLC. There's two parts in there that can help (one opens up a room filled with chests; the other you just go in the back way of where you do the generator mission in the big cave, there's a control room that has a several chests and lockers and I farmed it and got a lot of good stuff).
