It's very port forward sensitive apparently.

People are having a rough time. I have forwarded all the ports they suggested but no go. Anyone else connecting alright running W7 to MP games?

been a long time since i've had such grief from a program with picky port forwarding - are all UE3 engine games that bad?

Hmmm.. How do you like the game thus far?

it was a hell of a lot of fun

I have it for 360, but all my friends got it for PC so I had only played single player on 360 until last night and man it was way harder and way more fun than Single player, and I thought single player itself was good.

The only problem I've heard about the game is the re playability isn't too great.

Oh yea..

dunno if anyone else noticed, but voice chat is enabled automatically and is voice activated, was quite annoying when trying to use Vent instead, here is where the option is to disable in configs, since there isn';t a menu option:

VOIP is the last section in the BaseEngine.ini

bHasVoiceEnabled=

set it to false for disable, true for enabled

looks like its in Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config->WillowEngine.ini

As the same variable too

, One of the worst ported PC games I've played... there better be some patches coming out very soon.

I play with my brother, who is still at University - how the hell is he going to get these ports opened up to play?

Link.

Great thread, makes the game actually look as good as they promised for the PC. Default mouse smoothing, that's a funny one :disgust:.

The UI and networking still needs serious work. Also, no zero day patch, guess it's confirmed that the extra week wasn't for working on the PC version.

Just played for about a half hour. My initial thoughts:

- Seriously needs a vsync setting. Thankfully we can modify the ini file to turn it on.
- Mouse sensitivity is weird (saw the fix earlier in the thread).
- I actually like the graphics a lot, but it does make it a little difficult to pick out details sometimes.
- UI seems a little off.
- The map dragging is reversed. Annoying.
- Overall, I'm enjoying it.. I just need to figure out how stuff works since it didn't do a great job of explaining thus far.

This is not at all what I wanted to hear after waiting an additional week to pick this game up for PC.

Let us know what you think guys. I've seen nothing in the released previews/reviews/etc to excite me and make this look anything beyond average. Gearbox has also never done anything worth a damn except OpFor. Not exactly a developer who's pedigree woos me.

Game is great on the 360 I assume it can only be better on the PC.

I need more than "this game is great". For all I know, you love shit (no offense).

I just played for 15 minutes or so, and I was impressed. The cell shaded graphics are neat, and the characters are funny and quirky. I picked Hunter class and did ok against the initial bandits and Skags.

My 8600GT is showing it's age though. It was getting dragged down @ 1280x1024 with all the default settings (4xAF, high details, etc.) My new 28" monitor arrives tomorrow too. I want a new video card but only buy Nvidia cards, and they don't have anything competitive out.

It's pretty bad.

There is a plethora of UI problems that make doing a lot of seemingly normal things very tedious. For example, if you want to fully read the mission text, you have to scroll down a bit... using Page Down and Page Up. It's like the developers never played a PC game. Selling/buying and menu navigation are just as bad. Controls are a bit quirky as well.

Multiplayer is a joke right now. The main problems seem to be that the game freezes when entering the server list and that many players are having trouble connecting/hosting. If you've bought it through Steam, you cannot use Steam to play with your friends. Borderlands MP is through Gamespy... yeah, Gamespy. And to top it off, there is no push to talk voip. For some reason, voip is constantly on (not quite sure on how it actually works), but most players are disabling it completely through .ini settings and reverting to TS and Vent for voice.

Right now I'm just treating it like a singleplayer game in order to enjoy the game for what it is. Everything you've heard about this game is true, it's a blast to play. The graphics and environments are cool, the weapons are awesome to use, and the loot system works great. Obviously the horrible port is the only thing that is dragging this game down, especially since it ruins the best part of the game, multiplayer. Hopefully they roll out a patch soon in order to salvage MP and the UI, but who knows how long it will take...

I am so fucking glad I stayed skeptical and made this title prove itself to me. All my friends that wanted me to 4-pack with them have been bitching up a storm all evening.

I agree with the complaints here. But what annoys me the most is that I got blue gear off the first boss and then tried to join a friend when he invited me. Of course it didn't work, and to top it off, my blue loot is gone. What a waste.

Maybe that extra week was just bonus time to get angry about having to wait an extra week - THAT way, when we actually DID get the game, we'd be more mad about waiting a week than the crappy UI that smacks of XBox. Or something.

The FOV totally screwed me up, but other than that I don't have too many large complaints. Gamespy sucks, I'd much rather be able to use steam. Still, I easily hosted a mp session with me and a few friends. It was fun. Love the graphics. No AA option annoyed me a bunch, I'd rather have AA than a lot of the other graphical effects. Gameplay is fine and enjoyable.

BUT the UI OMG WTF! Jeeeez allow me to scroll through dialogue, not use page up or down. And the retarded button combinations to do simple things. Meh. That is where they need to patch.

I shouldn't have to edit the game files to play the game like any normal person would want it to play.

edit: Oh and the second inexcusable thing is NO PUSH TO TALK. wtf?

Yeah good thing the FOV fixed helped. All I could see running around is my character!

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere in this thread but if you are using SLI, download the latest EVGA SLI patch. The profile in the 191.07 whql drivers uses the wrong executable (willowgame.exe instead of borderlands.exe) and causes in game technical problems (laggy menus and sudden frame rate drops).

The EVGA patch seems to correct these problems and sli performance has been excellent with none of the other technical issues.

Note that I am using the Steam version.
