Borderlands Game of the Year edition $3.50!!

At onlive.com, today only, they have Borderlands GOTY edition for $5. If you are a playpack subscriber, like I am, it's only $3.50. That is insanely good. If you don't have this game, and don't get it, you should be run over by a bus.

If you are a PC guy, they have great Borderlands deals on Steam all weekend. GOTS for $7.50 which is also a very good deal. You can get all the DLC, etc for 75% off.

Either way, skip lunch today and spend the money on this game.

If you prefer Steam the GOTY version is $7.49 there this weekend.

Be sure to get the GOTY version not the plain version, the GOTY includes all of the DLC. I've only used the item bank and played the Knoxx DLC but it was well worth the extra $2.50.

I've only played single-player, though the base game and Knoxx. You don't really need multiplayer to have fun.

Supposedly the online game is filled with people using hacked items that mess up the game, so for online you'd want to play with people you sort-of know like fellow AT'ers or Ars GESC members.

So you guys talked me into getting borderlands. I picked up the GOTY edition from steam for $7.50, not a bad price in imo. I played it for about 2 hours last night before going to bed (yes I stayed in on a Friday). The game feels a lot like Bioshock to me. There are vending machines to buy items, like in bioshock, and the vending machine interface has 1950's style font/pictures, like bioshock. Has anyone else notice this?

The vending machines are like Bioshock, but pretty much everything else is different.
- Art style
- Setting
- Mission structure
- Enemies
- Weapons (huge difference from the limited set in Bioshock)
- Powers (idea is similar, but both are like RPG spells and class skils going back decades)

Both are good, but I don't see much in common.

Using a single character type (Siren) I've done the recommended sequence of playthrough 1 - 2 - Knoxx so far. Without any loot attempt at farming or grinding I've spent over 80 hours. All single-player.

I still have the zombie and Robolution DLCs to play through. I'll probably stop then for now.

I can definitely see myself playing again using a different character type in a few months or a year, just to see how the combat tactics change with the different special skills and weapon type bonuses.

But: I don't play a lot of shooters, mostly RPGs, so you might be more jaded if you play most of them.

It's 5 bucks. It's an incredible game. Get it. Don't order an appetizer at dinner...bam, paid for + 3 bucks. Better yet, get the GOTY edition for 7.50$.

No joke. Penny wise and pound foolish.

I bought Oblivion when it was on insane sale on Steam (like 5$) based solely upon 1) It was a real time RPG and I'm a huge fallout 3 fan 2) The metacritic score was phenomenal and, like these forums, I trust fellow gamers ratings generally 3) It was only 5 bucks!

People will think nothing of paying 5$ for a beer at a bar or 8$ for an appetizer but toil over a game like borderlands that everyone here is raving about and, if you like it and play it, will probably come out to like 10 cents an hour.

Steam has taken a big wad of cash from me, 5$ at a time though

I don't know exactly, but 3.5 to 4.5 GB. It took about 4 hours for me to download on 6Mbps DSL.

It was 12gb. New Vegas was only 6.5GB (I downloaded them at the same time.
