The deadline for signing up for Obamacare for the 2014 year has already passed.

You had to sign up in late 2013, if she signs up now, it will be for the 2015 calender year I believe.

This is done to prevent people from not signing up at all and then simply signing up whenever they get sick or need medical attention and then dropping the plan afterwards.

They extended it to Jan 10 for Coverage starting Jan 1 (don't ask, seems desperate) and like someone else said March 31 for the year of 2014.
