I really do hope he is alive when taken. If he hasnt killed himself yet and hes cornered they at least have time. If he has a hostage like it appears now that seems less and less likely.

Seems vanishingly unlikely that he'll be taken alive. It would be useful, as maybe we could get to the bottom of this, but that's why he'll probably kill himself.

Haven't heard more on the girl supposedly at gunpoint. May not be the same guy.

Apparently investigators have gone to one of suspect's sister's houses in New Jersey and have been there for hours now, likely just questioning the family, and/or possibly collecting evidence (computers, etc). (according to CNN)

I saw an excerpt of the TV interview he did, and he had stated that he hadn't been in contact with his brother's family since 2006? So many conflicting reports on so many levels...

Given that the motives are presumably political and/or religious, I'm a bit perplexed that the perps would not want us to "get to the bottom of this." Kind of hard to make a political point with an act of terror when no one knows why the hell you did it. I'm actually surprised they didn't post about it online after doing it, at least anonymously.

Maybe they have a manifesto or something among their belongings.

Actually, the younger suspect is being painted in somewhat of a humane and favorable light by ex-classmates.

Just reported:

The "Boston Globe" is reporting the remaining suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing drove over his wounded brother in an effort to escape police overnight. Police are swarming the Boston suburb of Watertown in an effort to find Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The "Globe" cites two police sources as saying Dzhokhar's brother, who was also a bombing suspect, was shot by police during a gunfight. Dzhokhar allegedly ran over his own brother to escape and remains on the loose.

This is what I was thinking.

Police presence has cooled down a bit... so I am wondering if they are thinking of expanding their mandhunt.

This guys' face is plastered over the entire USA so I doubt he gets too far without someone seeing him.

IIRC, they were still dealing with unexploded bombs found in streets etc this morning. You can't have people wandering/driving around with that.

As I said elsewhere, the fact he and his brother had more pressure cooker bombs with them last night is a strong indication they weren't done with their bombing spree. I think it best to keep people at home, and not congregate in large groups like at a subway stop or at school etc and possibly be targets. Even if it would be difficult for him to operate given his face has been plastered all over the news, we don't know if he has accomplices or not.

They really can't have traffic all over the place. He has lived there a long time and has friends etc. It would be too easy for someone to pick him up and drive him away. He might also resort to car-jacking again.

The guy is obviously desperate, no need to 'offer' him hostage opportunities with people wandering around all over the place.

Clearly, the city cannot be locked down forever, but this seems prudent to me right now.

I listened to the physicians who tended to his brother. They had a press conference late last night.

According to them the brother was not only shot numerous times but blew himself up with a bomb he had attached to his chest. They said they couldn't quantify the number of times shot or how much shrapnel because it was just too much. He also had severe burns from the explosion etc.

I.e., he was dead with or without being ran over.
