I'm betting local grown terrorists or lone nutjob, someone without real experience.

I'm surprised the death toll is that low given that they identified ball bearings used with the device. I think if a real terrorist had done that, there would have been a larger payload combined with more extras, like roofing nails and rat poison.

This sounds more like someone without a great deal of experience with explosives did this after watching Swordfish. Would not be surprised to hear it's been traced back to a right-wing militia group or cell of local or foreign AQ-sympathizing students.




I know it's bad form to disregard due process, but I want this bomber to get tossed into a wood chipper. Had an emotional morning with my son today, then I read about the 8yr old that was killed while he was waiting to take his dad's pic as he crossed the line. That man approached the finish area to find his whole family shredded by a cowards bomb. I can't begin to imagine what that sight would do to me were I in his shoes.

I can't really remember the last time a leftist group bombed/committed murder in the USA. The cause for the Weather Underground was the Vietnam war. When the war ended, the leftists lost their cause and dispersed.

Meanwhile, I know in 1996 Eric Rudolph bombed the Olympics, then a lesbian bar, because he was angry about abortion. I know that Tim McVeigh bombed the federal building in OKC in 1994, with right wing motivations.

To state the obvious: right wing violence is more prevalent, destructive, and recent than left-wing violence.

Left wing violence had its heyday in the 1970's, but it ended long ago.

I'm totally willing to blame left-wing violence if the facts line up. but the facts don't line up.

OCW did not commit any violence. IT looks like there was some sort of entrapment thing going on with the Cleveland bridge, where the federal informant egged them on.

But the pressure cooker and explosive used is the same as the mubai and london attacks by muslims.

Okay, this is a good find.

I have said before that another possibility is an Iraqi national who's out for revenge for the US invasion. Afghanistan can count also.
