Finish line as a target plus multiple explosions is what gave it away to me immediately It wasn't an accident.

No, they're saying police responded to a suspicious package. Those happen all the time, and are almost always benign. Got to assume it's not related until they clearly say otherwise.

Newtown families are everywhere these days, rubbing elbows and giving speeches. Throw a dart at a map.

In other words, the Boston Marathon was a world famous event (and highly visible target) before Newtown families decided to grace it with their presence.
