My guess (and I have no right to make this presupposition this soon after the event) is that they're going to pin this on "domestic terrorists."

They are saying on the news that they are suspecting that this is from either an individual (lone individual) or a local domestic group, or someone who is aligned with them. Like KKK, or gun nuts who are upset about gun laws, (just giving examples) something along the lines of what happened at Oklahoma bombing. That is what is being said on the news channels, but we won't know for sure until they finish their investigation, and as yet no one has claimed responsibility. But I don't think this is a muslim terrorist thing, I think this is domestic too honestly. But we shall see... as things are uncovered.

Man this is just sad, tragic, they are showing blood all over the damned side walks and part of the street, and one guy said that people to the left of him had their legs blown off, and one young girl around 20 years old died of cardiac arrest, even though she had no visible wounds. He thinks the concussion of the blast hit her chest.

I sure hope they find the fucker, or fuckers who did this shit. This is just awful. My heart goes out to these folks..

at first i thought it might be a gas line but if there are actual other devices found, i'd say it pretty much removes that suspicion.

the fact they wen toff a block apart, found one that had not exploded etc. yeah there is NO WAY this was not purposeful.

Hopefully there were cameras set up in the area to film runners crossing the finish line that will have caught the perps planting the devices.

Edit: Actually, given where the bombs went off (in the middle of a bunch of spectators) this seems unlikely.

A homegrown "patriot" wouldn't blow up a bunch of civilians on purpose (knowing they were just civilians), only a terrorist would do that. Might be a homegrown terrorist, but, it'd be terrorist(s) none the less.

As bad as I feel seeing all of this carnage it appears these were low velocity explosives and thankfully it was well after the main finish when the crowds would have been much much bigger.

I hope the FBI can find enough to go on but it will be a challenge to pinpoint one individual carrying something suspicious in that crowd. Whole thing just makes me sad for those who just went down to celebrate an iconic Boston event.

The explosion was outside. I believe the gas would just rise in the air. Gas usually needs to be trapped in an enclosure and build up enough concentration until it finds an ignition source and you usually see a fireball. They are already reporting ball bearings being found (shrapnel).
