Trying to pick one for a road trip bachelor party getaway... UFC in PHI vs. Yanks/Bosox... he likes both equally we think. I've been to both cities and I think Philly is pretty run down. And not much other things to do but when we drove through it was just to Pat's / Geno's. Boston I've been to once a long time ago to visit friends at the schools. A lot more to see I think... opinions?

EDIT: Boston is set...
back to ask a few more questions:

- 1-day linkpass for $9 ... do they still have this and is it the way to go for a full day in BOS? Our hotel is the Harvard Square stop. Would be great if someone can list the must-dos.
- best titty bar recommendations? (gotta hit at least 1)
- what can I do with my car if we're out of the hotel Sunday morning but are hitting Fenway Sunday night... before we head home.

I'm a diehard Yankee fan, but Boston is a much better town than Philly. I used to work in Philly. Ugh.

I'd go for UFC in Philly. You can go for a baseball game anyday, but UFC, not so. I've been to one UFC ppv before and it's definitely a guy's atmosphere.

I agree that most of Philly is run down, but there are still some cool places. Unless you wanna hang out with a bunch of college kids at the bars, there's really nothing much in Boston.

Fenway is awesome, especially in the summer. Nothing quite like a Red Sox and Yankees duel. You can then run down to RI for good strip clubs.

they're both goddamned shitholes, but Philly probably has fewer douches.

I've never lived in Boston but I have spent a lot of time there and known many people who lived there over the past 20 years. Boston is easily one of the nicest cities in the US to live in.

If you're a warm-weather person, I can understand your choice to live elsewhere of course.

If you are planning on going to Fenway for a Yankees/Sox game expect to pay an exorbitant amount fyi, even if you go for bleacher seats. I would expect $50/person MINIMUM for the cheap seats.

the yanks/sox thing is overdone.

Also, if your idea is to get tickets to a game, good luck. Even for a crappy game, prices are sky high.

yankees play the red sox 834 times a year, and baseball is fucking boring. I would pick UFC.

I think I'd sooner put a down payment on a house in the worst neighborhood of Detroit :hmm:

From Jersey? Haha.

t
I've said nothing to defend Jersey if it wasn't for my job/family, I couldn't see myself being here.

(funnily enough, I'd probably move down to Philly, but it would still be a shithole it's just a shithole where a ton of my college friends moved to)

Ok, Philly isn't THAT bad. Stay out of the hood and it's actually a pretty decent place.

already looked, $100 for standing room and on Sunday night it's $156 minimum for right field seats. No seats for less on Fri/Sat. We'll have to do it.

hey I'm an ex-Mets fan who lost interest in baseball many years ago, but the sound of a nightgame at Fenway sounds pretty cool.

Game? Yanks/Sawx @ Fenway hands down.

Cities? I know Philly better, but both cities have cool places if you know where to go, hidden amongst the urban dirt and blight.

Bachelor party in Philly = Delilah's. There's plenty of stuff to do here, let me know what you are looking for and I can give suggestions.

anyone know decent hotels in Boston close enough to all the places we may want to see? I figure we can take the T everywhere but don't want to be more than 20 minutes away anyway. We'll probably do Friday afternoon (arrival) to Sunday whenever.

Here's the neighborhood listings we can choose from:

Back Bay
Cambridge
Logan International Airport (BOS)
Quincy Market-Financial-Waterfront
Theatre District - Downtown Crossing

Back Bay - most expensive, but in the middle of everything. Access to green line. Can walk to Fenway.

Cambridge- be careful, make sure it is near a T. In fact, if being near a T is vital, stick to the hotels in Kendall Sq and Harvard. Access to red line.

Logan International Airport (BOS)- Skip, kind of a long distance. Uses Blue and Silver line.

Quincy Market-Financial-Waterfront - Pretty cool. Access to orange and green line. If you get a hotel right on the harbor, then Back bay will no longer be the most expensive. Packed with hotties in suits during the week.

Theatre District - Downtown Crossing -right next to the back bay, and right next to Chinatown. Access to Orange, Red and Green Line. Bring weapons at night, especially if you are in downtown crossing.

Boston is not like New York where they have roach hotels in the city. The vast majority of the hotels are chains. The non chain hotels are usually upscale. So, just go on priceline or something and pick. they are all at least $129 a night. If I had to pick, I would pick the Hilton or Radison in the Back bay. From my experience, the most iffy hotels are in the harvard area.
