No CPU PCIe 3.0 support, though. I'd say that limits longevity for a few people because the new Enthusiast market GPUs from AMD and (probably) NVIDIA will support it.

Cards can't even max out 2.0 X8 so its no big deal

See bold.

Not now, but graphics cards will only get faster. If we're to assume a 50% improvement from the HD 6970 to the HD 7970 and a 15% improvement from the HD 7970 to the HD 8970 or its NVIDIA equivalent then things may change. The new enthusiast 28nm GPUs will be pushing memory bandwidth well over 200GB/s.

Except price. Also, you can buy a top notch x58 mobo on eBay for $41 (I just did). Pairing this with a 970 will make for a delicious upgrade for the poor college student like me!

Maybe you should concentrate more on hot naked girls and not computer parts

Site sounded sketchy, but the reseller ratings was pretty solid (assuming they are real). Still sounds a little fishy, like they have the stock and will sell it now, but ship after launch.

BLT is Sketchy? Since when?

I've bought from them before. They're legit.

3930K supports PCIE 3.0...

No...

I would love for it to have it, too, but it doesn't. Motherboard manufacturers can claim PCIe 3.0 support or being PCIe 3.0 ready, but to get CPU support you'll need Ivy Bridge-E. Again, Sandy Bridge-E CPUs WILL NOT support PCIe 3.0.

Among the reasons being given are that Intel has no products to test and therefore validate it with, and another one is supposed engineering issues. Whatever the case, it's not good news because Ivy Bridge CPUs will have PCIe 3.0 support and SB-E is supposed to be better when it comes to longevity.

A 480 GTX has a 2% performance drop going from x16 to x8 link that would be similar to your scenario. Even at x4 link the performance drop is just an 8%. Lacking of PCIe 3.0 isn't that serious.

Do people here even bother to read?

It more than probably won't be an issue for 1920x1080 with 4xAA, but for 2560x1440 with 4xAA or higher that could definitely be something to take into account.

Stop flaming. There is no need to be this vitriolic:

So even being x2 faster would mean a 2% performance drop.

Your point?
