IIRC, and I could be wrong, but I am thinking that there is a 3 day cooling off period on automobile purchases here in Kentucky.
Gonna do a little research now, BRB.

Worst case scenario: Have her cancel the insurance on it. If they are financing, they will come & pick up the car ASAP! Of course, they will still try to charge her a lot of different fees, but I worked with a guy once, he bought a Camaro at a "Buy here- Pay Here" lot, took out insurance just to get it off the lot. The very afternoon he drove it off, he went to the insurance co. & canceled the insurance & got some of the cost refunded. About 3 days later, they towed his car back to the lot!

If your mom has reached this point then you and/or her relatives need to have a talk about taking over her finances.

wont matter. they will either reposses the car (bad bad bad), make you purchace expensive insurance or won't even notice.

if they take it they will try to sale it at auction. they then will sue his mom for the diffrence and ruin her credit.

best choice is to live with it. she screwed up and has to pay for it like every adult.

Carmax has a 5 day return window for any reason, don't know of anybody else who does this though.

..true. it will get assigned to a repo man and he'll show up in the dead of night and whisk it away.

If there were a 3 day cooling off period on car purchases, I would be at the track every weekend in my flavor of the week.

She has always wanted a convertible, and saw a beautiful one sitting in front of the local dealer for a great price. It's a 2004 model and she did get a good deal on it, but seriously can't afford the payments.

Are there any laws or loopholes that would allow her to return the car within 24-48 hours of purchase?

Any options at all?

nope.. she's stuck

car impulse buy?!

sheesh.. she must have a lot of credit card debt.

declare bankrupcy is she cant afford car.

then teach her better

I think it's 3 days to return an automobile nowadays in all states.

Worse comes to worse call an attorney but I would have it there (at the dealership) first thing (like 8 a.m.) Monday morning and give it back to them.

Nope. Almost NO state offers a cooling off period for automobile purchases. (good lobbying by the automotive industry...)

"One additional statement should be made regarding new cars. Whether leasing or purchasing a new vehicle, many consumers are often under the impression that state law provides for a ?cooling off? period (usually three days) during which a consumer may reconsider the deal and rescind the transaction. In fact, neither Kentucky nor Indiana provide for such protection. Once you purchase or lease the vehicle, you are obligated to pay."

If her correct name is on the contract, she signed it, and took delivery (drove the car off the lot), then congratulations, she IS an owner.
