That's why I was looking at 2017's in March. I'm surprised some of the new '17's are still sitting on lots. That's a good advertised price for a new Convertible Z06 3LZ. Nearly like mine. Missing a few things. I'm sure the dealer would work with someone on the price with it sitting this long.

I really should get a stupid powerful car to enjoy before they all go away in favor of hybrids and electrics or self driving cars make them irrelevant.

We're on the verge of hypercar technologies becoming near mainstream (eg C8 AWD variant with 1000 HP rumored). There's at least a few more rounds of awesome before we all get driven around by robots.

Yeah...

1. I test-drove the Model S & X. The X with the performance package (zero to 60 in 2.9 seconds) is amazing - no vibration, no noise, just like a punch to your chest. It's hard to explain how amazing electric cars are; best analogy I can think of is that it's like going from a flip phone (gas car) to a smartphone (electric car). Once you get a taste of it, you kinda get hooked!

2. I was strongly considering a Model 3...300+ mile range, self-driving features, and an optional package to go 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. But I really wanted to wait for the Model Y (crossover), which is going to be officially announced in March of 2019, and will need another year or two of production to get all of the first-run kinks worked out & catch up with demand, so I was looking at ~2 years away.

3. Went with an Ecoboost Mustang instead. Still a reasonable DD (~31 MPG with MT), but fun noise (even if is fake, lol). There's just something about having an engine that makes a car really enjoyable, haha. Powerful EV's like the Teslas are extremely fun as well, but in a different kind of way.

The TL;DR is that I'm very glad I went with a fun ICE vehicle (with stick-shift!). This will most likely be my last gasoline-powered car, so I figured I should get something fun before the hybrids & electrics take over. Although I think AdamK47 wins in the super fun department this week

My dad had a white C3, I think a 1970. Saved up forever in school to get it. 427 convertible, put on side exhausts & did some custom fiberglass work on it...truly awesome machine!

Cool, what Saturn? Mine was a green '98 SL2. I bought it from my dad.

The engine started burning oil and I didn't do a good job paying attention to it. As my uncle said, "there aren't many ways to destroy a car via user error... but that is one." RIP, green sneaker. 1998-2007.

Gold '94, I believe it was an SL2 (stick!). It was somewhat beat up by the time I got it, but it was cheap! Haha. The funny thing is that my dad said that my Saturn was way nicer than his Corvette...comfortable seats with room for your legs, a radio that you could actually hear, air conditioning, crumple zones, didn't rattle like fiberglass, etc. He called his Corvette his "plastic illusion" - loved it, but you have to buy into everything else those cars come with too, like scraping on angled driveways & all of the other little annoying things, lol.

Although he said when you lit up the 427 every morning to go to work, you stopped caring about those problems...hahaha

I just remembered I did a focus group for the C7 when it was still in development.

They asked us how much we were willing to pay for downloadable content for the car and I told them in no uncertain terms what a crappy idea that was. It should come with everything installed, no ifs ands or buts.

Those wheels though - good god, they have got to go. So much bling! Red is also not my first choice. I've seen some in white and those always seemed to resonate more with me.

Do you really need to do any mods to the engine? Doesn't the car have enough power as it is...? Not sure what you'd see in results from another 100-200hp. Maybe it'd shave a few tenths off a 1/4?

One question on the car, what do you think of the screen as gauges? Does it bother you at night? In my car (Admittedly not nearly as new) the secondary screen is way too bright even at the lowest setting for night drives, and stuff like the LEDs for cooled seats and the 'cruise' symbol on the dash never get dark enough.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate newer cars that have it (The new S-class screen is insane) but I can't imagine liking the main cluster being a screen over traditional without it being OLED.

I like the LCD gauges. It's very customizable. It's not distracting at night at all. I keep it in sport mode most of the time. I use the HUD mostly anyway.

We had a tan one. From my understanding the oil burning wasn't a big issue (was common but I seem to recall people saying it would still get 30mpg even while burning oil at a pretty silly level), but it would go through valve cover gaskets (the plastic valve cover was prone to warping too), and so it'd cause oil to pool and you'd foul the plugs easily (we had that happen probably 3 times, which if you knew how to do wasn't a tough job). Initially they thought my mom was overfilling the oil, but I did more research after like the 2nd time and the valve cover and gaskets just were prone to causing issues. But ours also developed electrical gremlins and so it would foul sensors fairly regularly too.

Nice car. I didn't notice before, but the spoiler actually overhangs forward? (In picture 3, you see a gap with the top overhanging the rest.) I like the body colored rear tear/brake duct exit (the ones by the taillights).

Great looking car. ZO6 is the vette to get. Get rid of that black spoiler thingy on the rear and it's perfect. Just my two cents.

I've had my Corvette for a month and I can say I'm in love with it.

Congrats on the Corvette! I briefly drove a few C4s and had a C5 for a while, an ex-rental for one of those 'premium' rental places, so it was an auto convertible lol, but due to knowing the owners it was dirt cheap, $12,500 for 19k miles, 99 model in 2001. The interiors have come a long way since then, but it was extremely comfortable and dead reliable. Normally I only buy manuals, and considered swapping in one, but sold it pretty early for something else. I ended up not minding the auto though, it was very relaxing compared to my other cars, and due to solid low rpm torque it had solid grunt everywhere on the dial.

*Hated* the C4s though. Early ones were underpowered, later ones too much power for the awful layout and weight distribution. Drove a 96 anniversary edition with the LT4, and it was way scarier than something with under 400hp should be. I've heard complaints about the scary nature of the 80s 911 Turbos, and after experiencing both, I'd put them on par lol. C5+ really took that twitchy erratic nature and turned it into one of the most stable platforms for big power there is. It's easier driving an 800hp supercharged C6 than that 360hp C4 lol.

I've had my Corvette for a month and I can say I'm in love with it.

Now over two months and I love it even more. It does garner much more attention compared to the very modified Chevrolet SS I had before it.

Everyone seems to have an opinion about it and some judge based on stereotypes and perceptions. It all comes with the territory when you drive an expensive flashy sports car.
