They burn the coffee, which some people like the taste of. Others find it too bitter that way. If you are one of those that loads it with creams and sweeteners it probably does not matter how you make it. For those of us that drink it without those, the quality of the brew is more important. What's wrong with your normal $20 coffee maker?
I can't believe they managed to get people to pay 100+ and spend tons of money on BS cups. More power to them though!!!

My friend has a Keurig, and it does not matter what brand K-cup he uses, I find the coffee meh at best, and blech on others. The method Dave suggested we call hobo coffee and I prefer it to french press. Passing the coffee through a natural paper filter removes diterpenes unlike the press method.

Yeah....but it's thin plastic. It's probably less material than when someone goes to McDonalds and gets one of their paper-covered styrofoam cups every morning....Somewhat off topic maybe, but I find the amount of waste produced from these Keurig machines to be somewhat disturbing. Every cup of coffee results in another plastic cup going into the landfill somewhere.

Response in bold.Burn the coffee? Not sure what you are talking about. The hot plate under the carafe burns the coffee.
They are bitter because people don't clean the glass/plastic properly. Use very hot water/rinse rinse rinse and you won't have that problem. The hot plate burns the coffee making it bitter, but what you noted is important too.
No clue cause I cannot drink the coffee black, that's just disgusting. Out of a $20 drip macine, your damned right it is
It's not the brewer, its the coffee! Just get a Bonavita drip machine and some real coffee.
I agree it is personal. I prefer not to ingest the part that potentially increases the chance for heart disease. However it also removes some of the oils, oils that I find enhance the flavor.
Coffee is a very personal thing. I have yet to meet two people that agree 100% on the best way to make coffee, best coffee to use and best way to prepare it. But that is part of the attraction. There are so many ways to make high quality coffee and the best ones require the least expensive equipment.

Don't live your life like that! Enjoy all the bad stuff! (Bacon, Ice Cream, AND Coffee Oils)I agree it is personal. I prefer not to ingest the part that potentially increases the chance for heart disease.
I agree with everything you said here. Black coffee is like drinking gasoline. I use the green mountain coffee or gloria jeans pods. I've been drinking caramel vanilla cream flavored coffee lately with copious amounts of flavored creamer.
Pick your battles is my motto. I spent 15yrs riding sport bikes for primary transportation including a t-bone wreck at 40-45mph. I have had a laundry list of injuries from combat sports overs the decades. I have surfed in TS and hurricane swells. My death if premature will hopefully be quick. Surviving a stroke or MI is not something I want to deal with. Even gorking from an infarct is a nightmare I have no wish to endure. I therefore take reasonable precautions to help minimize that potential. Besides eating clean most of the time and hobo coffee are taste preferences for me. And I do eat bacon, because the mis/disinformation about saturated animal fat and other natural fats and how unhealthy it is can suck it. :awe:Don't live your life like that! Enjoy all the bad stuff! People always make it sound like dying under the age of 70 is a bad thing. I want to go out early so I don't end up wrinkling up too much.
what color skirt are you wearing today?
"Donut Shop" K-Cup FTW
Try it first before you get rid of your machine.
