Bought a new bike today..

A Suzuki Boulevard M50. Found a good deal on this bike, only problem was that it was located in Phoenix while I live in Vegas. Talked with the seller, booked my one-way ticket and drove the sucker home. The ride itself was pretty terrible without a windshield. Felt like I had to hold on for dear life at 70+mph. It was also super cold. Overall I love the bike though. So happy I finally upgraded from my DR650 enduro bike.

Yeah a windshield is a must for any real distance on the Highway. I'm in the market for a new cruiser. My heart says "Get something bare knuckles, like the HD Sporters Nightser", but then my brain kicks in saying "But you'll want saddle bags, and a windshield.". So far my heart and brain are at a stalemate.

I can't image flying out to buy a bike, then ride it back. You must have been pretty sure you were going to buy, and pretty sure the bike was in sound shape.

You can have both. Quick release windshield and throw over bags.

Nothing makes a cruiser look worse than a bigassed windshield. Thats what goggles are for!

Goggles do nothing to keep the wind off your body, which is what causes fatigue on longer rides on the freeway.

My buddy has one and mentioned that his Corbin seat was a good investment for long distance riding. If you got monkey butt on your trip it may be something to look into.

That's really the core of my issue. I agree windshields kill the "look" of a cruiser, but 3 hours into a ride you tell me you think goggles are a replacement...

I have a quick release Memphis fats on my Honda Sabre and love it.

My football coach used to ride googles and a brain bucket. Fucker took a big bee? to the lip at like 60mph. Went caraveening across an adjacent field, through a bunch of brush.

His lip was about 20x the normal size. Lucky for him there was no bodily damage. He said it felt like someone cracked him across the face with a bat.

Had a yellow jacket go in the side of my helmet at 50, felt like the damn thing was the size of a humming bird. Almost crashed coming to a stop, didn't get stung though.
