Bought a new computer!!

So...what kind of power did we have in Dec 1994?

Pentium 90........... Fastest CPU for a PC. The P100 came out a few weeks later in January
540MB Hardrive.....I up'ed to 740mb as an option. My HD capacity was about what a CD is now.
8mb of memory....Want another 8mb? Back then it would have been an additional $500.00+
ATI Mach 64.........Whopping 2mb of memory
CD-ROM drive.......4X if I remember right
15" Monitor...........I've used a 22" for so many years I can't imagine how small that would seem

Floppy drive,mouse,keyboard etc...

The machine was an Acer which was a pretty big name back then although they got a pretty crappy reputation for quality later on. I never had any problems,mine worked perfect. Of course by the time I finally got rid of it there was little left inside that was original.

Cost? Around $2700.00 with shipping.

in '94 we had our Apple performa (? i think) desktop at a whopping 33mhz. Dont remember the entire specs, wasnt too bad a machine though. It was running OS7 i believe.

I don't quite recall but I think I still had my 486dx2-66 at the time. Homebuilt of course. Couldn't afford a Pentium at the time.

I got a new computer in 95 or 96. It was a Gateway P133 We were the coolest on the block since we had a 3.2GB hard drive, 32MB of RAM, Altec Lansing 2.1 Speakers (which sound great to this day) 8X CD Reader, WIN95!!!! And a 15 inch Vivitron (Sony Trinitron) Monitor. Was about 3k, but man was it cool!

Early in 95 I was still using my dad's old 286 in college to telnet into campus to do my homework. That summer my parents and I combined our money and I got myself a Packard Bell Pentium 60 with 15" Packard Bell monitor. That monitor still works and was still in use by my wife until we upgraded her PC a month ago. I then gave her my 17" I bought a couple years ago. Sadly the Pentium 60 was trashed a couple years ago when just took too much room in the closet. I probably still worked, but why would you even bother?

200Mhz Pentium w/MMX technology
32mb RAM

ATI RageII+ with TV Tuner!
17'' Sony Trinitron monitor

Cost around 1800 dollars.

anyways, my first one was about 10 years ago as well, and was a powermac. no clue on the specs, but it ran the game Marathon pretty well, as well as Star Wars: Rebel Assaul.

Mine was a P75 with 32mb RAM and 850 hard drive. I thought I was king. Sadly, due to budget constraints I'm still only computing with a 233... Time to upgrade?:Q

I upgraded from a 486SX-25 to a DX2-66 that year. Then I started tearing into the old one and next thing you know I was a builder.

In 94 a Pentium 90 was fast as crap. In 1996 I had an sx20 (486). It sucked. My brother in 94 had a dx266 486, which was pretty decent.

Then I got a IBM 486 with 350 MB Hard Disk, 33Mhz Processor
Then I Got a Compaq PII 333Mhz Processor, 8gb Hard Disk, 32Mb Ram
I Currently Have a Compaq AMD Athlon 1800+, 120Gb 5200 Rpm Hard Drive, 1Gb Ram, 10/100 Nic, DVD Burner and CD-Rom Drive

The Next Computer Will be a Self-Bulid

Our first was a 486sx-25 w/ 4 megs ram. Then we went IBM 6x86-100, then i upgraded that to a 166 then after that I've had too many to count.

I bought a pentium 200 mmx (overclocked 166 mhz chip) pc from a friend who owned a computer store in 1996(1997?)

Paid $800.00. Came with 16 mb memory, 3.2 gb wd hdd, 8x cdrom, trident graphics (later upgraded to s3 virge baby!!!), 14 inch monitor, epox motherboard, etc.

It was nice and cheap for the time. Ran quake great when I bought the monster 3d voodoo board.

my uncle has that exact same comp in his living room right now... he plays solitaire and poker and freecell on it.

This day in 1994 I had a 386DX40, and I had a beta of Win95 on it. 85 and a 170 meg hard drive. lol

I got an AMD 486-33 with everything else the same for $500 from a coworker who knew how to build his own systems. He is responsible for my current habit, damn you Richard Brown!!!!

We had a 90mhz P1 with a 1GB hard drive and had the RAM slots filled to the maximum the board could support. It was really good at the time
