bought two laptops. original plan was 1 for her little bro and i went the extra mile to surprise her. 1 is a 14" dual core, the other is 17" dual core.

she doesnt want either and will let the little bro pick which one he wants.

because she wants a pink laptop.

I kind of blew up at her and it ended with a "i can't believe you still dont know me"

I think a laptop is quite a bit different than power tools. It's not just a fun little tech gadget. It's a functional computer for her. Maybe she needs one for work, school, etc.? I think it can be a great present. It just goes to show what Mac/Dell can do with those "personalized" computer advertising campaigns. I never thought painting a laptop a certain color would be the selling point.

I don't think that's the case at all. It's not like he bought her a dishwasher or a vacuum cleaner-- OP's gf is just spoiled. Any reasonable person, man or woman, wouldn't get mad over the color of an expensive gift.

How old is she? And when you say "the girl," I'm assuming you mean your daughter, correct?

If so, well... I'd say don't get her anything nice for a good long while. And definitely don't get her a computer again for a couple years. You went out of her way to get her something really nice and she's being a spoiled brat about it. You can give her the computer that her brother doesn't want and if she doesn't want to use it, then she doesn't get a computer. My parents would never have let me refuse such a nice gift on the grounds of it not being the right color. It's her business not to use it if she doesn't want to, I guess.
