Holy shit, lol. That bitch needs to get spanked hard. Check out her reply video (funny even if it isn't true, who knows).

Anyway... I can't understand how someone wanting a laptop could refuse it based on the color. If she didn't specifically ask for a pink laptop, fuck her for throwing a fit because it came in a neutral/standard color. Now, typically when I buy gifts I TRY to buy colors or accessories or whatever that I know the receiver will appreciate... but if I buy someone a laptop they better fucking appreciate it regardless of what color I was able to get.

I have a friend who LOVES pink. She had wanted to get a pink sony cybershot for xmas, but her parents couldn't find one, so she just got one in silver. She loved it and was totally thrilled about getting it. Getting pissed cause something isn't your favorite color is childish at best.

Anyone trying to defend her little temper tantrum is deluded.

I LOVE her response video! It truly shows what a spoiled brat she is.

I'm saying that I prefer to get people exactly what they want. If I can't get them exactly what they want, I get them nothing.

I'm also saying that it is okay to reject a gift if it's not what you want. Disparage no; reject yes. Not in a bitchy manner obviously, but a gentle, "This is very kind of you, but...."

I'm also saying that I'm assuming that the people involved in such a gifting transaction are romantically involved/dating for a long time/engaged/married (since these were the individuals involved in the OP).

I'm saying that in such a context, it is perfectly acceptable to have expectations. Demands are just expectations put forth rudely. I don't advocate being rude on any occasion.

If the people involved are co-workers or some distant relative or someone that I simply don't know very well, an entirely different code of conduct is called for, obviously. In such situations, smile, accept, praise, effuse, whatever---and then move on.

So, the need for politeness is some how less for people romantically involved than for strangers? It's okay to reject a gift from a loved one as long as you use the correct form?

I feel sorry for you and all the plastic Barbies who live in that world. The world in which I inhabit places more importance on the people I care about than the gifts they give.

Does that world include insulting others?

I don't see why people need to directly "attack" people for expressing opinion. While I disagree with Ruu extremely, I am no better off if I throw in "attacks" than if I didn't.

I think AbAbber put it quite frankly, though. Getting mad that something isn't your favorite/preferred color is childish at best.

Had I received a computer at 800fsb instead of 1333fsb as Ruu mentioned, I would still be happy (even though I don't feel that is an accurate comparison). A gifted computer is a gifted computer, not something I walked up to a store and configured myself then they jacked me on what I paid for.

Mea Culpa! I just get incensed when someone puts their needs above those of the giver. I should know better as someone who prides themselves on having the gift of giving. I lack patience for dealing with selfish people. Sorry, ruu.
