So I bought a used Inspiron 11 3153 the other day from someone on OfferUp. It works, boots into Windows just fine. The admin password she gave for Windows worked just fine. But I noticed when I got into the UEFI BIOS that it had an administrator password. I called Dell, and was able to confirm she was the original registered owner and they gave me the master bios password. Problem is, the master password did not work. The warranty expired about 6 months ago, and as such to provide any further help they want $90 to try troubleshooting it. I think that is insane to charge that much. I don't mind paying a small amount, but $90 is just astronomical for what I am asking for. So, my question is, aside from handing Dell $90, is there anyway to reset this? I tried removing the battery, the cmos battery, holding the power button for 10 seconds, etc. But that did not do anything.
Trying to update the BIOS via Dells files in Windows asks for the BIOS admin password. I did try asking the original owner if she knew what it was and she is going to look around to see if its written down somewhere. The only thing she knew definitively was the Windows password.
